Amazon's first video game release is apparently scheduled. Crucible, an online multiplayer shooter initially unveiled in 2016, has had its release window revealed. According to a new report, Amazon says that Crucible will be launching in May.

For those unfamiliar with Crucible, it's a 13-player game in which 12 players are dropped into a battle royale-type experience where the last player alive wins. However, in order to survive the initial stages of the third-person shooter, players will have to work together.

Crucible also features a 13th player that serves as the "Game Master." This is where Crucible's Twitch integration comes into play, as the Game Master will be broadcasting the match while also interacting with their viewers. All of these details may have changed in the years since Crucible was revealed, but these are the most recent official plans from Amazon.

The news about Crucible comes as a huge surprise, because Amazon's spoken so little about the game. Many figured that New World, Amazon's survival MMO, would be its eventual first game release. New World is also apparently shipping in May, but Crucible will come first.

Amazon does have other games in development. Breakaway, one of Amazon's first announced titles, was canceled almost a year ago. But in its place, Amazon is working on a Lord of the Rings MMO, as well as at least one more mysterious unannounced project.

Crucible launches in May.
