In April, Cyberpunk 2077's Twitter page announced its production plans for the year. Among these plans is an upcoming DLC expansion that will arrive in 2023. This has many fans guessing what the expansion could possibly involve, as well as their hopes for what to see.

The Cyberpunk 2077 expansion announcement has sprung rumors. Some of these rumors are just the hopes of fans while others are based on rumored leaks. There are a ton of rumors and ideas out there, as Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot laid out already that can be explored further from its characters, locations, quests, and customizations.

A Longer Prologue And More Customization

The map, gigs, and sidequests do not really open up to V until they complete The Heist main quest. Once that quest is complete, the prologue is done. However, many fans wish that they could have spent more time with Jackie Welles and do more jobs together before The Heist. On discussion boards, some fans have mentioned that they wish The Heist actually took place in the middle of the game, not the beginning. So a DLC that takes place before The Heist with Jackie Welles would be popular.

Outside of story and characters, fans are also hoping for more customization. This idea is particularly for cars and apartments. While the apartments can be customized a little, the options are severely limited, which has disappointed fans since there are a number of apartments to buy. As for cars, they have no customization options yet. Players hope an expansion will allow them to change colors and put stickers on their vehicles.

A Quest Outside Night City Or Another War Between Arasaka And Militech

Fans have had mixed reactions to this particular rumor since Night City is enormous and full of possibilities by itself. However, some like the idea of going outside Night City for an expansion. The many shards players could collect detailed interesting locations outside of Night City. Big ideas spread around include Tokyo, outer space, the Soviet Union, and United Korea. There is a ton of history and world-building in the Cyberpunk series, so the developer would already have a lot of lore to work with.

Another idea that has been passed around is a war between Arasaka and Militech. Both are very powerful, and there are hints of them preparing for another war in Cyberpunk 2077. It would not be the first time the two go to war, as they fought each other to a standstill back in 2025. Getting V mixed into such a scenario in an expansion could be easily done and be combined with other rumors and ideas, such as the involvement of Mr. Blue Eyes or going outside of Night City.

Mr. Blue Eyes And Morgan Blackhand

Mr. Blue eyes.

Mr. Blue Eyes is known to be one of the greatest mysteries of Cyberpunk 2077. Players do not see him except in rare circumstances, and it is hinted that he plays a huge role in the politics of Night City and is the one behind the Peralez family being spied on. Strangely enough, his identity has been hinted at by Garry the Prophet, who mentions blue-eyed characters that control the world from space. The space connection is interesting because Mr. Blue Eyes can hire V to go to a space station in one of the games' endings. With all this in mind, a DLC about this character would be fascinating.

Another DLC rumor has to do with Morgan Blackhand, a prominent character in the Cyberpunk series who is only mentioned in the game. Claire Russell shares that his fate is a mystery, though it is hinted on the World News Service website that he may still be alive. A popular theory is that Morgan Blackhand was originally going to be in the role of Johnny Silverhand, but that changed in Cyberpunk 2077's development for various reasons. However, it's definitely not too late for this major character to appear in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
