The main draw of Mario Party Superstars is how it features the very best elements of the series. This includes many different boards from past games in the franchise. The most recent news came from the latest Nintendo Direct, as Nintendo revealed that three more classic boards will be in Mario Party Superstars. This shows how much thought is being put into giving fans a classic experience. On top of this, the website for Mario Party Superstars has shown off short videos all of the mini games that are returning.

The mini-games are a staple of the Mario Party franchise, as they are skill or luck-based challenges that break up the board game aspect and give the players a chance to get more coins to buy stars. Mario Party Superstars will be continuing this tradition, having a slew of mini-games that will be brought back from the other mainline entries. As to retain the nostalgia, a majority of these minigames are coming back from the N64 games.

Out of the 100 mini-games shown for Mario Party Superstars, 55 of them are from Mario Party 1-3. These include classics like Mushroom Mix-Up and Shy-Guy Says from the first game, to other N64 mini-game classics like Bumper Balls and Hot Rope Jump. The different game matchup modes are also set to appear, such as a four-way free for all and the one-on-one Duel minigames. There also seems to be at least one returning mini-game where one player can be rewarded with a free item if they succeed.

As for the GameCube Mario Party mini-games being represented, 36 of them will be making a return. Some incredibly popular mini-games are making a comeback, such as Dungeon Duos, which comes from Mario Party 4 and requires the full-teamwork of both competing players that are competing. The rest of the mini-games come from the divisive Wii era of the series, as Mario Party 8-10 are being represented the least, with a paltry total of 9 mini-games being brought over from these entries.

This can be considered a good thing for some, since Mario Party 9 and 10 are commonly seen as one of the lowest points for long-time fans, so not adding too many of those games' elements would be good. However, considering that they were still represented, it shows there's at least some love for some of the mini-games from those titles. With this many classic mini-games and returning features, it's looking like Mario Party Superstars might be the game that is a true return to form.

Mario Party Superstars is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on October 29th.
