Earlier this year, Cold Iron Studios and 20th Century Games announced they were working on Aliens: Fireteama cooperative, Left-4-Dead-esque shooter based in James Cameron's seminal science fiction universe. Earlier today, the upcoming multiplayer experience received a new trailer, with the promo revealing the game is now called Aliens: Fireteam Elite and will officially hit shelves in just a few months' time.

The upcoming Aliens tie-in will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on August 24, closing out the Summer season with a bang. As for pre-order bonuses, it seems players will get an array of additional goodies to customize their character and arsenal, including a "chestburster" emote. Aliens: Fireteam Elite's latest trailer doesn't show the in-game animation, but it's safe to assume it'll mimic some of the series' notoriously grisly chestburster death scenes.

Other pre-order cosmetics included are the "headband" accessory, which offers a wearable red and white bandanna eerily similar to Private Vasquez's headband in 1986's Aliensas well as "Digital Red Camo" weapon color. Early purchasers will also get a set of three decals that can be attached to weapons, with one bearing the logo of the USS Endeavor, another reading "ADIOS" in white lettering, and a final one sporting flames.

The trailer itself shows off plenty more of Aliens: Fireteam Elite's co-op action and creepy environments, highlighting the game's three-player teams waging war against xenomorphs in underground caverns, dimly lit ship hangers, and on the surface of desolate planets. It's a solid showcase of what's to come, briefly glossing over the variety of alien types players will go head to head with during Fireteam Elite's missions as well the upgrades they'll be able to assign to their squad.

For those who missed the game's reveal back in March, Fireteam Elite will slot players into one of multiple classes, seeing them able to wield traps, use grenade launchers, or utilize one of the franchise's iconic flamethrowers. They'll also come into contact with various different types of xenomorph, including ones that will fight using acid-based ranged attacks, others that will rely on stealth tactics, and even a variant that sports a bulletproof head plate. The game itself will take place over four distinct campaigns, each taking place in a new area with fresh objectives. Those intrigued by the narrative weaved throughout these four chapters will be in luck, with Fireteam Elite slated to get a prequel novel titled Aliens: Infiltrator, with the story penned by Weston Ochse.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is set to launch on August 24 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
