It's been a while since the gaming world has seen an action-packed Alien title. With 2013's Colonial Marines being one of the worst Alien games in existence, the thought of another high-octane entry into the series is likely going to make the community and surrounding media tread cautiously towards any sort of optimism. On the horizon, however, is Cold Iron Studios' upcoming third-person survival shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and a recent update has just unveiled the hardware specifications for the PC version of the game.

To start off with, according to a recent report, it seems as though PC users will need 30 GB of storage space to install Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Cold Iron Studios also recommends gamers have at least 8 GB of RAM, and either an AMD Athlon X4 950 or an Intel i5-2500K. In terms of GPU, either an AMD R9 285 or the Nvidia equivalent, which would be the GTX 750. It's worth saying that this is to run the game at minimum settings.

To run the game in higher settings, i.e. at 1080p and at 60fps, unsurprisingly, players will need more advanced hardware. In terms of graphics, it is recommended to have either an AMD RX 480, or an Nvidia GTX 1060. This is likely to be good news for those who have been struggling to get hold of newer GPUs. It seems as though the game won't require anything quite as lofty as the Nvidia GTX 3090 or AMD equivalent. PC users will also ideally need 16 GB of RAM and either an AMD Ryzen 5 1600F or an Intel i5-7400 CPU in order to run it at high settings.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite seems to be inspired by other co-op shooters such as Left 4 Dead. With an emphasis on teamwork rather than versus, it could slot right in with other co-operative titles, such as Back 4 Blood, the upcoming Redfall, or even horror survival games such as Dead by Daylight. It seems there is a surge of team-based action games that are starting to hit the market at the moment.

With the likes of the recent Back 4 Blood beta being highly successful, there is an opportunity for Aliens: Fireteam Elite to swoop in and strike while the iron is hot. While it's probably not going to have the tense atmosphere of 2014's Alien Isolation, especially given that it's a different game style, it can hope to surpass Colonial Marines.
