For a limited time, Alien: Isolation fans will be able to purchase a special "Collection" edition of the game specifically for the Switch, with a choice of three versions to choose from. Regarded by many to be one of the most terrifying horror games of the older generation, if not of all time, Creative Assembly's 2014 interpretation of the Alien franchise was a beacon of hope. After the flop that was Colonial Marines, Isolation showed that it was possible to make a terrifying video game in Dan O'Bannon's universe.

Given that it's been nearly 10 years since the game launched, many are wondering whether an Alien: Isolation 2 could be on the horizon. Sadly, there doesn't appear to be any follow-up in the pipeline, with the developer currently focusing on its upcoming space shooter Hyenas. However, once that's released, maybe the team will consider doing a sequel to its celebrated Alien title, but that's just speculation at this stage.

In the meantime, Switch owners can at least get hold of special versions of Alien: Isolation for the Nintendo hybrid console, thanks to Limited Run. There will be three iterations of this upcoming "The Collection" version. The first and cheapest will come with the game itself and all seven DLCs. The mid-tier one, called the "Collection Classic Edition," will come with the same content, plus a steelbook and VHS-style box. The third and most expensive will feature what the other two versions have, plus some additional goodies like a double-sided poster and patches. Pre-orders for each of these editions will be open from 7 AM PST on May 26, but the website says they will only be available until July 9, 2023.

It's nice to see that one of the best legacy console horror games is still getting some love after all this time. While Alien: Isolation has been largely forgotten by the industry at large, horror fans still remember this terrifying interpretation of one of the most beloved sci-fi franchises in pop culture history.

Over the decades, many have tried to make video game adaptations of the Alien brand, but there have been quite a few that have fallen short of the mark. Luckily, Isolation was a huge hit and was not only a terrifying experience, but was faithful to the lore of the classic 1979 film. With Aliens: Dark Descent coming soon, many will be curious whether another studio can successfully bring the Xenomorph to the digital realm.

Alien: Isolation is available now for Mobile, PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
