The final chapter in the Alien Breed trilogy is nearing its release with the reveal of Alien Breed 3: Descent. Chief engineer Theodore Conrad, the game's protagonist, will find himself on the surface of an icy planet after his ship became engulfed by waves of aliens.
Conrad must now escape the Leopold and his untimely demise as the ship plunges deep into a frozen ocean, while finally discovering the horrifying truth that surrounds the existence of the alien threat.
As per usual in the Alien Breed series, players will fight off waves of aliens, new vicious bosses and avoid elemental hazards. Like its predecessors, this third person overhead shooter appears to bring some of the same types of environments as seen in the past. For the first time in the series though, Conrad will also be able to travel outside and at least two new weapons will be added to the already expansive arsenal: the Electro-Link gun that electrocutes crowds of aliens, and Project X that will tear through anything.
Like the previous chapters in the Alien Breed story, this final piece of the puzzle will cost $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points. If Alien Breed 2: Assault was any impression as to what this game will bring, it will surely be worth the price. It's also quite possible that Team17 will offer some sort of three pack discount at the launch of Alien Breed 3: Descent.
While Alien Breed 2: Assault did provide a good deal of campaign gameplay, there were far too many cut scenes that took away from the action. The trailer doesn't give much insight as to whether or not the same game structure will be put in place with Alien Breed 3: Descent, but regardless of previous faults, it was a fantastic game. The co-op mode really sets the previous game apart from most other arcade shooters despite difficulties in locating other players online.
Team17 released Alien Breed 2: Assault only a few months back, do you feel this will cause more or less people to purchase Alien Breed 3: Descent?
Alien Breed 3: Descent will be available on Xbox Live and Steam November 17, 2010. It will be released on the PS3 at a later date.
