Alan Wake Remastered has a lot of collectibles placed throughout the game. With Manuscript Pages, players get to peek into future plot points and a glimpse inside other characters' thoughts and feelings when a new page is read.
Finding 25 of them will pop the 'Paging Mr. Wake' Trophy/Achievement, and after all Normal difficulty pages have been found, 'Picking Up After Yourself' will also unlock. It may not be the easiest game to get a Platinum Trophy or full gamerscore in, but it's not incredibly hard either. It just takes a little time commitment.
There are 10 Manuscript Pages in Episode 1 on Normal difficulty, and this guide will walk players through where to locate them. Although the images were captured on the updated version, the same locations apply to both the original and the remastered versions of Alan Wake.
All Collectible Manuscript Pages in Episode 1 of Alan Wake Remastered
Manuscript Pages 1 & 2
Shortly after waking up from the car crash in Alan Wake Remastered, players will come across the first 2 Manuscript Pages. They are automatically picked up during a cutscene, so they can't be missed.
Manuscript Page 3 (Wake Fights a Taken With Light)
On his way to the Gas Station, Alan will have to walk over a pylon that has fallen into a metal fence. Shortly after, a cutscene with Stucky will play. After this, move towards the objective, but keep to the right. The page will be on the ground, right before a pile of logs collapse.
Manuscript Page 4 (Rose Daydreams About Wake)
The 4th Manuscript Page is found after Alan gets a weapon and kills Taken for the first time. Players can take advantage of reloading quicker in Alan Wake Remastered to end the fight sooner. Turn the power to the fence off, and then jump over it into a new area. Turn immediately left and go to the small shack with a rusty tractor near it. The page is on the inside right wall.
Manuscript Page 5 (Barry’s Arrival)
After exiting the Lumber Yard, players will come to a stream. Cross the first log, and then turn right. Keep hugging the right-hand side and moving up to eventually find the next Manuscript Page on a white box, in a rocky area by the edge of the island.
Manuscript Page 6 (Wake Attacked by Birds)
After crossing the stream, players will find themselves back in the Lumber Yard. Head all the way to the back, where Alan will get ambushed by Taken. After killing them, turn right into the 'Hard Hat Area' building, and players will see the page on a table as soon as they enter.
Manuscript Page 7 (Wake Finds Pages)
Reach the top of the broken stairs and go past the shack with a hidden radio inside, which plays a local show hosted by Pat Maine. His name is most like one of the many Stephen King references in Alan Wake Remastered. After the shack, keep heading up the hill towards the objective on the minimap. At the top, before going down the other side of the hill, the next Manuscript Page will be on the ground, in the middle of the path.
Manuscript Page 8 (TV in the Gas Station)
After the last page, head down the hill and through the forest filled with enemies. Players will come across a Safe Haven generator that they can use to heal in Alan Wake Remastered. Just past it, on the main path to the objective, will be the 8th Manuscript Page on the ground.
Manuscript Page 9 (Lake Lies to the Sheriff)
On the path to the Gas Station, players will drop down a small cliff and get ambushed by a group of enemies. Kill them and then continue down the path until a locked gate is reached. The page is on the ground in front of the gate.
Manuscript Page 10 (Stucky Taken)
Once players reach the gas station, head over to the Deerfest truck in the parking lot. The last Manuscript Page of Episode 1 is on the ground, near the back of the truck. The subtle creepiness of this fog-covered area is one of the reasons Alan Wake Remastered is the perfect Halloween game for non-horror fans.
That's every Manuscript Page location in Episode 1 on Normal difficulty. While there have been no updates to the documents that could hint at the rumored Alan Wake 2 being in development, there are small Remedy easter eggs to be found amongst the game's many collectibles.
