The gameplay in Alan Wake Remastered usually follows a pretty linear route, but some sections don't make the correct path very clear. Like trying to get to Lovers' Peak in Episode 2, which can be a little confusing at times.

This guide will cover the right path, including how to open the locked wooden door to Lovers' Peak, and any useful supplies Alan can pick up on the way.

How to Get to Lovers' Peak in Alan Wake

To reach Lovers' Peak in Alan Wake Remastered, start by following the road down the hill, and keep going until the Visitor Center is reached. Don't try to get into Barry's car on the way, as it's locked, and Alan doesn't have the key.

When Alan reaches the Visitor Center, he will hear Rusty screaming for help. Go to him and then pick up the gun beside him after the cutscene, then head out to the Park Ranger's Office opposite. The place has a creepy atmosphere, but don't worry, there's nothing hiding here. Alan Wake isn't a horror game that relies on jump scares. Head to the back office and take ammo and batteries from the cabinet beside the door to the fusebox.

After discovering the axe in the fusebox (Alan Wake Remastered likes its Stephen King references), head back to the Visitor Center, but be careful where Alan is walking. There will be a black substance on the ground now. It can be removed by pointing the flashlight at it. Take care of the Taken in the Visitor Center and then head out the hole in the wall to fight Rusty. He's fast, but just make sure to keep the flashlight on his blur to lower his shields and keep track of him.

It takes eleven bullets to kill Rusty on Normal, and if players need any more, there is an infinite ammo box at the edge of this area. Using the button to reload quicker in Alan Wake Remastered here can help end the fight sooner. Take care of the Taken that spawn after Rusty dies, then go out the gate directly opposite the infinite ammo box.

After the fight, Alan can heal in a Safe Haven. Players should then continue to follow the main path and keep a lookout for brown Lovers' Peak signs pointing the way until Alan crosses a wooden bridge with a sign pointing to Lovers' Peak on the right. Head left into Moonshine Cave if players want to get a Shotgun and a Flare Gun in a hidden supply chest.

Head back out and keep following the signs until a large tree is found. A group of Taken will try to ambush Alan here, including a stronger enemy type, but if players have the Shotgun, it's not much of a problem. After this, follow the path through the woods and activate a generator to create a Safe Haven. All of these directions apply to both the original and remastered versions of Alan Wake.

Following the path and signs will eventually lead to an area with a large rock in the middle, where a lot of Taken will ambush Alan. Use the Flare Gun to clear the encounter quickly. These tense, but not very scary combat moments is just one reason why Alan Wake Remastered is the perfect Halloween game for non-horror fans.

After this, the correct path to Lovers' Peak is to the right of the rock, but there is a locked wooden door blocking the way.

How to Get Past Wooden Door to Lovers' Peak

There isn't any way to unlock the wooden door to Lovers' Peak in Alan Wake. Instead, all players have to do is walk over the rocks to the left of the door and jump down to the other side. It's one of the only times in the game Alan doesn't explain over-and-over where he has to go, so the solution can be easily missed.

Telling players where to go repeatedly is generally an annoying game mechanic, but it would have been helpful here. After jumping the fence, get on the nearby cable car and a cutscene will play, ending the objective to reach Lovers' Peak.

Alan Wake Remastered is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
