Aggretsuko returns to Netflix soon for a third season of shenanigans with everyone’s favorite red panda. A fresh trailer that dropped just weeks before release teases things to come with unicorns and pop idol music being the most tantalizing details.

The show is slated to release its third season on Netflix August 27, guaranteeing more office hijinks that made Aggretsuko a hit. What started out as a gag work featuring the Sanrio character Retsuko, the red panda who happens to be an office worker, caught on with audiences in 2018 and found enough success to warrant a second season the next year and now a third in 2020. On the surface she appears to be a demure and diligent office worker, but her inner personality is vicious and only surfaces in public during sessions of karaoke.

The third season of Aggretsuko also brings a new character into the mix -- Seiya the unicorn turned businessman. He will be voiced by Yuki Kaji, an anime voice actor that has appeared in several popular anime, who announced his involvement with Aggretsuko shortly after the new trailer dropped. Kaji described the character he would be voicing as one who “emits an aura like Prince Hakuba.” Hakuba refers to the white horse that a dashing prince might ride in to save the day on.

Music has always been a big part of the show since its only during sessions of karaoke that Retsuko can safely summon her ultra aggressive inner personality. Her music of choice during karaoke is death metal, which has her screaming out the lyrics like she owned the stage. This season though explores a different genre of music when Retsuko is forced to explore the world of pop idols (due to work of course) and catering to the “fan experience.”

The addition of Kaji to the voice cast brings an impressive resume to the show. He is well known as the voice of Eren Yeagor from Attack on Titan and other popular characters in anime like Fairy Tail, Magi:The Labyrinth of Magic, One Punch Man and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Aggretsuko’s unique style and humor are attributed to its director Rarecho and character designer Yeti who base much of the show off of real life incidents and friends that the pair knows well.

It's unclear from the trailer whether Retsuko will explore pop music during her karaoke sessions, but her aggressive inner personality will perhaps find a softer side when season 3 releases.

Aggretsuko Season 3 will release on August 27.
