Saints Row developer Volition is currently hard at work on its next game, Agents of Mayhem, but it appears that Switch owners will miss out on the studio's upcoming single-player open-world shooter.

In response to a tweet asking whether Agents of Mayhem will receive a Nintendo Switch port, Volition stated that there are no plans for release on the console/handheld hybrid before reconfirming that the game will only be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

While this news will be a disappointment for Switch owners, there are still a number of great games scheduled in 2017 for the Big N's newest console, which will help make up for the lack of agents and mayhem.

As for what PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC owners can expect from Volition's upcoming title, a newly released trailer has shed some light on what the game has in store. Agents of Mayhem is a spin-off of the Saints Row series that takes place in the same universe and features the same single-player open world shooter gameplay style.  Set in a futuristic Seoul and revolving around the organization known as M.A.Y.H.E.M, players are tasked with taking down the supervillain outfit L.E.G.I.O.N using a squad of "misfit" agents. Gamers can control three out of a total 12 agents at any one time, all of whom have different abilities and weapons, and all of whom can be switched in and out at will.

Gamers won't have to wait too long before they can get their hands on Volition's new title as it is currently scheduled for release on August 15 in the US, and August 18 in Europe. Don't expect any multiplayer though as the studio has confirmed that Agents of Mayhem will be a single-player only, but with colorful environments, plenty of oddball humor, and quirky character designs that rival the Overwatch roster, it appears that players are in for a treat come August.

The upcoming release of Agents of Mayhem will mark Volition's first game since the release of Saints Row: Gat out of Hell back in 2015, and it appears that the studio have lost none of its trademark humor and quirky touch in developing its latest title. With only four months left before Agents of Mayhem is out, there will certainly be a blitz of new information and gameplay footage in the coming weeks so stay tuned for any updates and announcements.

Agents of Mayhem is scheduled for launch on August 15 in the US and August 18 in Europe for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
