Paul Wight, otherwise known as The Big Show from WWE and WCW, is one of the most recognized and dedicated wrestlers to the craft. The 7ft giant is still lacing up his boots at 50 years of age and it doesn't look like he'll be stopping any time soon.

Wight has won many accolades during his time at WWE but, in 2021 he moved over to the hugely popular AEW where he was wrestling under his actual name. Whilst AEW has seen a rise in former WWE stars joining the company, Wight has turned his attention to his time before WWE when he featured in a classic comedy movie.

Back in 1998, Wight featured in the Adam Sandler movie The Waterboy as Captain Insano, who was a wrestler adored by Sandler's title character. Whilst audiences never know what kind of movie to expect from Sandler these days, The Waterboy is certainly in the category of his classic comedy movies. Despite only featuring for a limited time in the movie, it has been revealed that Wight will be bringing back the Captain Insano character and wrestling as him for AEW. This news comes following AEW and owner Tony Khan gaining the rights to the name and was approved by Waterboy's writers. Wight has spent most of his AEW time in the commentary booth, so it will be great to see him return to the ring under his old guise.

In an interview with Wrestling Inc, Wight stated that the overall costume design would have a comic book feel and that his character would have a lot more energy than the classic Big Show. It will be exciting to see how well this movie character is brought into the real world, but encompassing Wight's big and powerful stature should be no issue. Like Randy Orton, it's great to see classic wrestlers enjoying their wrestling and still giving the fans unexpected news and performances.

There is no current set date for Wight's Captain Insano debut, but it will be sometime in 2022. Whilst it's debatable whether Insano will be much of a title threat within AEW in comparison to some of their top talent, AEW continues to be a company that impresses and surprises its fans. As Wight has a history of switching back and forth between playing a face and heel within the wrestling ring more than most wrestlers, it will be met with high anticipation to see what kind of Captain Insano fans are going to be treated to.
