Ever since its very first show when Kenny Omega appeared in attire inspired by Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7 and Kurito from Sword Art Online, All Elite Wrestling has been tied to video gaming. Its second event solidified this connection, taking place at the CEO fighting game tournament in Florida. And in the spirit of fighting games, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks dressed as Street Fighter characters for their match against Laredo Kid and The Lucha Bros.

Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks donned the white gi and red headband of Street Fighter's main character Ryu, whereas his brother Nick Jackson wore Ken's red gi. Kenny Omega, meanwhile, dyed his hair and painted Akuma's kanji symbol in red on his back. However, the Street Fighter references didn't stop there.

As anyone familiar with Kenny Omega will know, one of his signature moves is called the V-Trigger, named after the Street Fighter 5 attack of the same name. Omega used the V-Trigger multiple times throughout the night at Fyter Fest, including in the match where he teamed with The Young Bucks, and at the end of the show to get revenge on Jon Moxley. In the match against Laredo Kid and The Luchas Bros., Omega and The Young Bucks also busted out hadoukens, which Omega has been known to do in the past as well.

With AEW Fyter Fest taking place in conjunction with the CEO fighting game tournament, video game references were common throughout the night. And with many of the top wrestlers in AEW all video game fans themselves, it seems like video games will continue to influence AEW shows moving forward.

AEW has two big shows scheduled for the near future, which will lead the company into its television debut on TNT this fall. The next big show is Fight for the Fallen, which will take place in two weeks time on July 13. After that, AEW All Out will take place on August 31, and it's there where the very first AEW World Champion will be crowned in a match between Chris Jericho and Hangman Page.
