AEW teased the potential arrival of some of wrestling's top free agents on the "Winter is Coming" edition of Dynamite.

In late October, Ring of Honor announced that it would release all talent from current contracts following the Final Battle pay-per-view in December. WWE has also released members from its roster, and it seems AEW may be in the market to sign some of this talent.

Throughout the "Winter Is Coming" edition of Dynamite, AEW teased the possible arrivals of Kyle O'Reilly, Brody King, and potentially, the Briscoes. The possible arrival of each star was subtly mentioned in backstage segments that consisted of members of The Elite and Malakai Black, as well as an in-ring celebration with MJF and FTR. For the past several weeks, The Elite has hinted toward the arrival of O'Reilly in various backstage segments, including a mysterious phone call being made by Don Callis. FTR has also created a stir of their own, appearing at the Final Battle pay-per-view to surprise the Briscoes after weeks of online banter.

Following a 60-minute match that ended in a draw for the AEW World Championship, Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and the Young Bucks cut a promo backstage to continue to take digs at the recently reunited Best Friends. The segment ended with Cole promising to deliver a special gift to the Young Bucks on the Christmas edition of Dynamite next week. Cole and Fish shared a knowing look, prompting many to believe that Cole's surprise will come in the form of O'Reilly. Cole and O'Reilly began teaming in Ring of Honor back in 2010 before they broke up in 2012. Fish and O'Reilly formed ReDragon that same year, going on to win the ROH Tag Titles 3 times. The trio was also seen together in NXT, where they competed in a faction known as the Undisputed Era alongside Rodrick Strong.

Malakai Black stunned viewers with a segment of his own, where he seemed to initiate another member into the House of Black. Over the past several weeks, Black has utilized his Black Mist to corrupt individuals on the AEW roster, including PAC and Julia Hart. Near the end of the video, Black mutters, "Now you're so much more than a king," and many believe Black is teasing the arrival of Brody King. Black and King are currently the PWG World Tag Team Champions, known as The Kings of the Black Throne. King was previously a member of the ROH roster before the release from his contract.

After the teases that took place throughout the night, many anticipated the arrival of a new AEW star. When the lights went out during MJF and FTR's celebration, some thought that they may see the Briscoes pulling a similar move on FTR. Instead, the lights came back on and revealed Sting and Darby Allin, who unleashed a beating on FTR for their antics last week. While some were disappointed that the program didn't feature the physical arrival of any new stars, it's impossible to count anything out when it comes to AEW. The teases in the "Winter Is Coming" episode of Dynamite are likely a long-term investment for what is to come in the very near future.
