With the Warner Bros Discovery merger bringing new heads to the DCEU, there are rumors that after the next slate of releases, which includes Aquaman 2 and The Flash, there will be a reboot of the current DCEU.

Whether there's any truth to these rumors remains to be seen, but fans are excited by the news that Ta-Nehisi Coates is writing a new Superman movie and can't wait to see who the next Man of Steel will be. As such, there are a lot of actors whose names are being floated to potentially take on the role of Kal-El.

7 Michael B Jordan

There has been much said since it was announced that Ta-Nehisi Coates was writing a Superman movie about a black actor taking on the role of Kal-El. Michael B Jordan has played multiple Marvel characters, with roles as the Human Torch in the 2015 Fantastic Four movie, and as Killmonger in Black Panther.

Jordan has also led two successful Creed movies and shown both the flair and innate hopefulness of character that a successful Superman needs. Jordan is also young enough to take on a longer stint so the rebooted DC Universe can have a successful Superman for an extended period of time.

6 John Krasinski

John Krasinski In Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

John Krasinski recently appeared in a superhero movie, at last, appearing as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. After nearly becoming the MCU’s Captain America a decade ago, there have been many fans waiting for Krasinski to get a role in the Marvel Universe. But what if he became one of DC’s prime players instead?

Krasinski has the style and fitness of a potential Superman, and while he isn’t as young as some other options there is no doubt he could pull off a successful Clark Kent and help create a great new face for the DC Universe as it unfolds with new stories.

5 Richard Madden

Richard Madden In Game Of Thrones

Richard Madden has already had a successful run as a darker take on the Superman character in Marvel’s Eternals, but besides that, he hasn’t taken on a major superhero or franchise role since Game of Thrones ended. His role as Robb Stark in the successful HBO series was a paradigm of good in a world where such a person couldn’t survive for long.

Madden has since also played a Disney Prince in the live-action Cinderella, and, with that role, once again solidified the style that would nail down a character with such heart and goodness to him as Superman.

4 Taron Egerton

Taron Egerton In Kingsman: The Secret Service

Taron Egerton is a huge star due to his roles in the Kingsman movies and Rocketman. While he hasn’t taken on any superhero roles yet, fans are waiting expectantly for him to enter either the MCU or DCEU at some point. Egerton’s flair and charm helped the Kingsman movies to become a massive success, and while there may not be many more on the horizon, it won’t slow down Egerton’s career.

At the age of 32, he could put in a long stint as Superman in the DC Universe. With his unique ability to make characters that are innately good have a little more humor to them is important in making the next Superman a massive success. Egerton could be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood with a role like Superman and, will likely get one of these roles soon; whether it is as Kal-El or another major player in a comic book franchise.

3 Finn Wittrock

Finn Wittrock doesn’t just have the look of a classic Superman, he also has a series of serious acting roles that have kept him busy over the last ten years. Having built up an excellent filmography, it is now time to see what could be next for him. At 37, he is still young enough to take on a major role like that of Superman for the new DC Universe and become a figurehead for them going forwards.

Whether DC is looking for someone with acting experience on the level of The Big Short, Judy, and Ratched, Wittrock has experience with a lot of different genres but has yet to enter the superhero game.

2 Matt Bomer

Matt Bomer In White Collar

Another actor that fans have been casting as Superman for a long time, Matt Bomer actually nearly played the Man of Steel fifteen years ago. When Brandon Routh was cast in Superman Returns, Matt Bomer was one of the final runners-up for the role alongside him.

There have been many reasons suggested about why Bomer didn’t get the role then, but he is still young enough to pull off an established presence for Superman in a new DC Universe. He definitely has the chops to play the role and did end up playing Superman in animated form for Superman: Unbound.

1 Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth In The Hunger Games

Liam Hemsworth is another actor known for playing classically “good” and straight-laced characters, those who fans often refer to as boy scouts. This is perfect for the original “boy scout” role of Superman. Hemsworth originally auditioned for the role of Thor but lost out to his brother Chris, and since then hasn’t entered the superhero genre.

While this is surprising, Hemsworth is still young at 32 and is likely only about to hit his prime acting years. He has been around for a long time due to the youthful casting in The Hunger Games franchise but has yet to make another major career move since that ended in 2015. Hopefully, another major role comes along soon, whether it is Superman or someone else.
