Due to multiple leaks, many gamers had already assumed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 was on its way. With some players and streamers finding the map of Caldera and the gameplay of the original Call of Duty: Warzone to be somewhat dull, it seems Activision will be granting users a new experience rather than trying to save the old game. It was officially announced recently that Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is in the works and that it is expected to be released later in 2022.Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is expected to launch some time after the release of the remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, similarly to how the first Warzone launched after the reboot of the first Modern Warfare game. Through leaks, fans may already have an idea of what Warzone 2.0's map will look like, but aside from that and some other information on the internet, players are waiting on official Activision announcements to find out more about the upcoming title.RELATED: Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 Confirmed for Release This YearRecently, Activision released one piece of information about Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 that may be disappointing to some fans. According to an official blog post, players moving into the new game will not be able to transfer their progression and gear from the original Call of Duty: Warzone. This is primarily due to the fact that Warzone 2.0 is not seen as a replacement for the original game. As Activision states, Call of Duty: Warzone will keep going as a separate experience, allowing a "continuation" of player progression in that game.

With so many players already having put a huge amount of time into earning guns and skins in Call of Duty: Warzone, it will prove a divisive decision to have that time and effort rendered pointless by the new game. However, according to Activision, there is no immediate need for players to abandon ship and jump to Warzone 2.0 as soon as it releases, as both games will be available to play as separate experiences, rather than one showing a clear improvement over the other.

Only time will tell whether Call of Duty: Warzone and its sequel are equal games or if one is more attractive to players than the other. Hopefully, Warzone 2.0 won't have the immediate cheating and hacking problems that plagued the first game for years, as Activision has also confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will have Ricochet Anti-Cheat implemented at launch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches in October 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
