Probably the most unique addition to the battle royale formula brought by Activision's Call of Duty: Warzone is the Gulag, a locale players are sent to after being killed for the chance at revival through a 1v1 deathmatch. Now it seems fans of the popular first-person shooter franchise will get to battle in the Gulag's distinct map in Call of Duty: Mobile.

The official Call of Duty: Mobile Twitter account posted a short clip featuring a row of filthy sinks in the Gulag under blinking fluorescent lights earlier today with the message, "Caution: Slippery when wet." It then goes on to promise that the Gulag is "coming soon" to Call of Duty: Mobile, though not a whole lot of detail is given as to when or how the map will be implemented; though the mobile spin-off does have its own version of a battle royale seen in the mainline title Warzone, so it could come connected to that.

Reference to the Gulag has previously been discovered in Call of Duty: Mobile's test servers, so it's not a complete surprise that the map is being added. However with the game's sixth season of content focused on the addition of fan-favorite map Rust and laid out through the end of May, it's a safe bet that Activision may not reveal much more until June.

While the Gulag is a popular feature in Call of Duty: Warzone, it has recently been at the center of the community's ire after an update changed the weapon pool found within it. This shake-up meant to keep things fresh led some to feel it lost its unique close-quarters charm by replacing pistols and shotguns with assault rifles and SMGs.

Given how closely connected Call of Duty: Mobile is to its larger console siblings, it would make sense for the game to take a page from how Warzone handles its version of the Gulag. There are bonuses players can unlock by playing both games, such as a Call of Duty: Mobile watch being available in Warzone, so there's a decent chance anyone playing one title has played the other.

But for now fans will just have to wait and see when Activision is ready to reveal more about how the Gulag will work in Call of Duty: Mobile. In the meantime there are other additions to the game on their way, such as free access to the HBRa3 assault rifle.

Call of Duty Mobile is available on iOS and Android devices.
