Activision Announces Apache- Air Assault Release Date and Screen Shots

The game, which will feature several different flyable helicopters, aims to let you experience a ride unlike any other. You will be able to fly alone, or with a co-pilot in 16 multi-stage missions. Aiming to be as realistic as possible, real-world satellite photography was used to design the environments and allow the developers to bring this world to life. Just as much detail was also put into the simulation controls, in an effort to compel players to perform the precision and detail needed to complete these military objectives.

The graphics certainly look impressive. Check out the screenshots below:

Recently, we have been seeing a wave of announcements for combat flying games. The genre is virtually blowing up, pun intended. From Top Gun on the PlayStation 3, to the multiplatform Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2, flying enthusiasts should be busy for some time to come. Apache: Air Assault, at first glance, looks to be a nice addition to the genre. The helicopter aspect seems like a nice twist, and we will have to wait and see what else they can bring to the genre.

If it can live up to the hype, this game should be an exciting extension to the group of combat flyers coming out soon. I hope the music will be as impressive as the graphics look to be from those screenshots. Maybe they can match Top Gun’s “Danger Zone” for its fist-pumping rock-and-roll vibe.

Well, Ranters, what do you think about the upcoming air combat sim Apache: Air Assault? Have you had enough of this genre, or can you handle the truth about aerial helicopter combat?

Apache: Air Assault lets loose on store shelves November 9, 2010 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
