The component shortage driving the limited availability of Nvidia GeForce 30 Series graphics cards shows no signs of slowing. As a result, PC gamers who have been hoping to upgrade their GPU in 2021 are growing increasingly desperate for an option to appear. Acer is introducing two such options, should PC gamers be open to gaming on a laptop. The newly announced Predator Helios 500 and Predator Triton SE laptops are both promising to feature an RTX 3080 GPU.

The first of the two laptops is the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE. Built into this 19.9mm thick laptop isn't just an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, but also an 11th-gen Intel Core H mobile CPU of the buyer's choosing. The laptop will also allow for up to 64GB of 3,200MHz DDR4 RAM. The Predator Triton 500 SE also lets buyers choose from three different display panels, though they're each 16 inches.  There are two 165Hz panels, one an IPS LCD and the other a Mini LED, and a 240Hz IPS PolarBlack panel with a 3ms response time

As for what the Acer Predator Helios 500 offers, the laptop allows for a larger 17.3-inch and the option of either a 4K 12Hz panel or a 1080p 360Hz panel screen. It also features an RTX 3080 GPU and is paired with an 11th-gen Intel Core i9 CPU. Like the Predator Triton 500 SE, the Predator Helios 500 can also have up to 64GB of 3,200MHz DDR RAM. The only key notable differences are the screen size and panels, as well as whether the Predator Helios 500 supports Core H CPUs or not.

Of course, the main difference between the two laptops for most interested buyers will be the price. The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE's base configuration starts at $1,749.99 while the Acer Predator Helios 500 starts at $2,499.99. Base configurations start with a RTX 3060 GPU, so those wanting a laptop with an RTX 3080 will be paying a not-insignificant amount more.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE will begin shipping out to early buyers as early as June in the US and China. The Predator Helios 500 will begin rolling out to buyers in August. It's probably a safe bet to say that these new laptops will sell quickly, so many if not most buyers may not receive their purchase for some time.

Obviously, a laptop with an Nvidia 30 Series graphics card isn't a replacement for a card gamers would plug into their desktop PC. It's just an option, particularly for gamers who were already looking for a laptop that could play games. Acer's got those laptop buyers covered.
