2021 has seen countless games be delayed into 2022 and beyond so, at this point, it almost feels like a guarantee that most games will get some sort of delay one way or another. One more title can be added to the delay pile as the mysterious horror/survival game Abandoned has been delayed into 2022.

According to a brief FAQ page on the Blue Box Game Studios website, Abandoned has been delayed into 2022 with no specific release window provided. This doesn't come as much of a surprise given the common nature of delays, however, with all of the questions surrounding the project, the delay is disappointing for fans who were hoping to get answers sometime soon.

Abandoned received plenty of attention earlier this year because of the many coincidences that allegedly connect the game and its studio to Hideo Kojima and Konami. What's more, Blue Box Game Studios recently released a real-time experience app for the PlayStation 5, however, it wasn't full of content in the way that many fans believed that it would be, shrowding the entire project in even more mystery.

Whatever Abandoned Ends Up Being, It Will Be Worth a Play

In addition to the delay announcement, the FAQ page has a lot of other information about the game including the fact that the name "Abandoned" isn't the actual name of the IP and is instead a codename. The studio goes on to say that the finalized title will be announced alongside the gameplay reveal which is supposed to be coming later in 2021, according to the FAQ.

There's plenty of other information available in the FAQ that those curious about what's actually going on with Abandoned should make sure to take a look at. The studio addressed the underwhelming launch of the Abandoned real-time experience app by saying that it wanted to include more content, but the issues that caused the app's delay caused the studio to cut the teaser down resulting in the studio using the Twitter teaser.

While the FAQ provides a lot of background on Abandoned and Blue Box Game Studios, there are still plenty of questions that haven't been answered about the game. Despite the studio's insistence that it has nothing to do with Hideo Kojima or Konami, theorists likely won't be satisfied until the game is actually out and they can see for themselves whether or not they were right. It looks like the next big piece of Abandoned content coming is the gameplay reveal later this year, so fans will have to wait until then to see more.

Abandoned will release in 2022 on PC and PS5.
