At the 2017 Game Awards event, Hazelight Studios' Josef Fares became an Internet meme after giving a passionate and profanity-laden speech about how The Game Awards was better than the Oscars. However, Fares is also known for creating critically-acclaimed games, and fans are no doubt excited to see what's next from his company, Hazelight Studios. Luckily, it seems fans won't have to wait too much longer to find out.

Industry insider Jeff Grubb has teased that fans will see the next game from Josef Fares "soon." This could indicate that Fares will reveal the new game as part of the ongoing Summer Game Fest events, which would make sense considering Fares' connection with SGF and Game Awards host/organizer Geoff Keighley. There are a number of Summer Game Fest events coming up, including EA Play 2020, and so maybe Fares' new game will be announced then.

For those unfamiliar with his work, Fares is known for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which earned widespread critical acclaim at the time of release. He then launched A Way Out in 2018, and while it earned more mixed reviews when compared to Brothers, many praised it for being an innovative and unique co-op game. Considering the themes of Brothers and A Way Out, one has to imagine that Fares' next game will revolve around co-op play as well, but that's just speculation at this time.

As it stands, little and less is known about Hazelight's next game. The company's official website says that it will "push the boundaries for interactive storytelling and emotional experiences" and that it will be "spectacular." It's also been teased that Hazelight's next game will be something that fans have never seen before, though details on what exact innovations the studio has come up with are unavailable at this time.

Something else that's unknown is whether or not Hazelight's next game will be published by Electronic Arts. EA published and helped fund A Way Out, which is why some have speculated that Hazelight's next game could be announced at EA Play 2020. EA Play 2020 is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11 at 4pm PT/7pm ET, so fans of Fares' work will definitely want to tune in to the show just in case.

In the meantime, those with EA Access can try A Way Out at no extra charge.

A Way Out is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
