The AA development space might not be as big it was a few decades ago, but there is still plenty of room for mid-sized studios to spread their wings. French developer Asobo Studio is one such example, emerging from relative obscurity after the success of 2019’s A Plague Tale: Innocence. The studio’s now getting set to release its sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, later this year.

Part of that preparation includes announcing the Collector’s Edition of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The Collector’s Edition consists of an 8.3-inch statue and other memorabilia, and fans can pre-order it now for $190 from the Focus Entertainment website.

Publisher Focus Entertainment revealed the Collector’s Edition of A Plague Tale: Requiem earlier today. In addition to a copy of the game, it includes a highly detailed 8.3-inch resin statue of the teenage protagonist Amicia and her little brother Hugo. The statue depicts a scene of Amicia aiming her crossbow at an unseen assailant in defense of her younger sibling.

The Collector’s Edition of A Plage Tale: Requiem also contains several other items to entice fans. These include a 2.4-inch recreation of Hugo’s feather broach, Requiem’s soundtrack on a two-track 45 RPM vinyl record, and three lithographs depicting scenes from the game. It all comes in a black and gold Collector’s Edition box bearing a stylized image of one of A Plague Tale’s carnivorous rats.

Fans can pre-order the Collector’s Edition of A Plague Tale: Requiem for PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S from Focus Entertainment’s online store. Note that only the PlayStation and Xbox versions include a physical copy, with the PC version including a code for Requiem’s Steam release. The site makes no mention of a Collector’s Edition for the cloud-based Switch version of the game.

A Plague Tale: Innocence released in 2019 to generally positive reviews. Set in 1348 during the Hundred Years War, players take the role of the 15-year-old noblewoman Amicia de Rune. It’s up to her to protect her supernaturally gifted brother Hugo from the forces of the French Inquisition. The game ends with the family leaving in search of a new home. Asobo’s yet to reveal much about the new game’s plot, but it seems to pick up relatively soon after, with the siblings still fleeing the Inquisition.

The gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem featured scenes of ships and the ocean along with a few shots of Amicia exploring a large port city. Another scene in the gameplay trailer also showed a palm tree in the background, hinting that the sibling’s journey might take them to southern Spain or the coast of North Africa. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer before finding out.

A Plague Tale: Requiem releases in 2022 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
