With 2022 already shaping up to be a huge year for games, it's easy to forget just how many major titles are still expected to release this year. Many games from previous years are finally receiving sequels. One such game is A Plague Tale: Innocence, a game that quickly became a cult classic when it first released in 2019. Very little is still known about its upcoming sequel A Plague Tale: Requiem, however. This might be about to change though, as the release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem has seemingly leaked.

A Plague Tale: Innocence was developed by Asobo Studio and first released in May 2019, another very busy year for games. Due to this, the game ended up flying under a lot of players' radars, with a small community quickly singing the game's praises and regarding it as one of the greatest games of the year. The game takes inspiration from AAA cinematic games such as The Last of Us, and follows a young girl named Amicia who is trying to protect her little brother, Hugo, from the French Inquisition during the Hundred-Year War.

A Plague Tale: Innocence was nominated for and won multiple awards after its release in 2019 and in July 2020, just over a year after its release, publisher Focus Home Interactive revealed that the game had sold over 1 million copies. In July 2021, the game received an enhanced port to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, alongside a cloud-based version for Nintendo Switch. It was then that the game's sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, was also announced. Now, due to a leak on the Microsoft Store, it appears that the release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem is set for June 17, 2022.

Awkwardly, the store listing claims the game's release date as June 17, 2021. While this appears to be an error, it may still be an indication of when the game is slated for release, as a summer launch window makes sense considering the original and its remasters released during the summer months. A release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem could be announced during tomorrow's Future Games Show, hosted by GamesRadar. This is purely speculation, however.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was first revealed at the Xbox/Bethesda Games Showcase in 2021, and will launch straight into Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's video game subscription service. Just a few days ago achievements for the upcoming stealth action game leaked on servers connected to Xbox Live, indicating that a release of the game is imminent and likely corroborating the Microsoft Store leak. Notably, users of the Xbox app can also pre-load the game currently.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will release on Nintendo Switch (via Cloud), PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
