Back in 2019, A Plague Tale: Innocence had seen a cult following due to the game's harrowing environmental design, dark atmosphere, and sibling-based narrative between its two main characters, Hugo and Amicia De Rune. Asobo Studio is looking to follow up on the plot threads that were left in the last game with this year's sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem. Earlier this year, the release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem was confirmed to be for this October, which is a rather appropriate date considering the game's focus on supernatural elements.

This release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem seems to be set in stone as well, as the developers at Asobo Studio have confirmed that the game has gone gold. For the uninitiated, a game "going gold" is a term used in the gaming industry that indicates that a game has passed certification testing and master copies can be produced. This is usually done to allow physical discs to be created that can be shipped to various retailers like GameStop and Best Buy. As such, this means that A Plague Tale: Requiem is content complete and in a state where it is ready for fans to play.

This announcement was made as a reply to another Twitter user, who asked if the game has gone gold yet, which they quote retweeted with the various platforms A Plague Tale: Requiem can be pre-ordered from. While the game is in a state where it is playable, it sometimes doesn't signal the end of development, especially for AAA games. There may be day one patches that will fix the game when it launches in October. It should also be noted the game can only be pre-ordered on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the game being only available on Switch via Cloud Streaming.

Regardless, many fans are hyped to see what direction A Plague Tale: Requiem will take, especially with how trailers have presented a new conflict for Amicia and Hugo to face. The official Xbox Twitter account even commented on the tweet itself, indicating that it is happy for the team and looking forward to seeing what is in store.

Before the announcement of the game going gold, Asobo Studio recently released an overview trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem, which highlighted the game's refined stealth-action gameplay, where Amicia can use a variety of tools to subdue her enemies. It also sets up the bleak tone that was present in the previous entry, along with establishing Hugo's central role in the plot.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will release on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on October 18, 2022.
