The developers recently revealed some of A Plague Tale: Requium’s voice cast. In a tweet on September 5, developers confirmed the English voice actors for protagonists Amicia and Hugo and core supporting cast characters Beatrice and Lucas.

Developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Interactive announced A Plague Tale: Requiem during their E3 2021 press conference. Picking up six months after the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, it sees Hugo and Amicia searching out a cure for Hugo’s mysterious illness while continuing to evade the soldiers of the French Inquisition.

Voice actors Charolette McBurney and Logan Hannan will reprise their roles as siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune. This probably won’t be too much of a surprise to anyone who recognized their voices in A Plague Tale: Requiem’s extended gameplay trailer from June. Meanwhile, Amicia and Hugo’s mother Beatrice de Rune, played initially by Katherine Pageon, has been recast with voice actress Lucy Briggs-Owen. Finally, Kit Connor will voice the apprentice alchemist Lucas, previously portrayed by voice actor Edan Hayhurst.

While McBurney and Hannan began their careers with A Plague Tale: Innocence, Pageon and Hayhurst’s voices may be slightly more familiar. In addition to her various TV roles, Katherine Pageon voiced several characters in Bloodborne, including Sister Adella and the female player character. She also lent her voice to the female version of Anri of Astora in Dark Souls 3 and Queen Victoria in Civilization 6. Kit Connor’s filmography doesn’t include roles in as many AAA games, though he’s done voice work for Nintendo and Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and the 2020 PS4 game Dreams. His TV work includes voicing Lyra’s daemon companion Pantalaimon in HBO’s His Dark Materials.

It’s unclear why Pageon and Hayhurst won’t be reprising their roles as Beatrice and Lucas, though several fans on Twitter expressed disappointment at the news. Katherine Pageon’s IMDB page is relatively sparse, with her most prominent roles before A Plague Tale: Innocence being that of Empress Celene and Warden Commander Clarel in 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition. Meanwhile, Edan Hayhurst has had various TV roles, including one episode of Netflix’s League of Legends animated series Arcane.

Developers also did not comment on A Plague Tale: Requiem's French voice cast, which some fans were curious about. Some players feel that the option to play through A Plague Tale: Innocence with French voices and English subtitles adds authenticity, similar to how some prefer Russian voice acting in the Metro games. While that feature probably isn’t going anywhere, some fans might like reassurance that their preferred cast members are making a return.

A Plague Tale: Requiem releases on October 18 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
