There is a new Pokemon champion in town. In doing what Ash Ketchum couldn't accomplish as a child, Simone Lim has won the Pokemon Oceania International Championships as the youngest Oceania champion yet.

At just seven years of age, Simone shocked the roaring crowd on Saturday during the competition, outdueling her opponent with a combination of quick thinking and high-level strategy, well above what most would think possible for her age. The competition took place on Pokemon Sword/Pokemon Shield, which saw massive sales success over the past few months since it's launch, partially thanks to the game appealing to a wide audience base.

Simone has beaten Ash Ketchum to the punch, as Ash, the star of the anime, took years to become the champion. As fans of the show will remember, Ash took off on his journey as a child and fell short year after year. Simone is somewhat of a prodigy as she won at a much younger age than Ash even got started.

Simone is quickly gaining steam as a fan-favorite for her victory in the competition. Some fans are already hoping that Gamefreak, the developers of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Sheild will update the game and put Simone in it in one way or another. Recently, after a campaign by some of his fans, Etika was placed in Pokemon GO as a PokeStop and something of the same ilk would be rather cool for Simone. Her reaction upon her victory was priceless, as she was seen adorably smiling and seen embracing a hug.

At the victory stage, Simone was standing alongside the presenter, who was twice her height, as she was holding a gigantic Eevee stuffed animal, perhaps similar to the plushies that became available recently with the new game. If Simone were to be updated into Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Sheild it would be adorable to see her and her Eevee plushie.

As a young and record-breaking Esport champion, Simone Lim has already supplanted herself as a young icon in competitive gaming. If she were to be lucky enough to be placed in-game, she and her iconic Eevee friend would go down in easter-egg gaming history as well. For the time being, however, Simone, and her adorable pal, are on top of the social media and Esports world for their amazing performance Pokemon Oceania International Championships.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
