When Batman: Arkham Asylum released back in 2009, the game was received as a critical success, showing other developers that superhero games could be a viable genre. Through attention to detail and complete reverence for the caped crusader's reference material, the Batman: Arkham series helped to heavily influence Insomniac's Spider-Man last year.

This Batman: Arkham treatment of detail assisted in leading the wall-crawling hero to massive success, allowing for Insomniac to triumphantly announce a sequel starring Miles Morales. And while practically nothing is known about Rocksteady's upcoming game, these are some of the many superheroes that if given the Arkham treatment, could likely rise to the occasion.

Black Panther

Perhaps the most "Batman-like" of these heroes, T'Challa seems like the perfect candidate for this Arkham treatment. Not only is Black Panther one of the most intelligent characters in Marvel history, but he also has lightning-quick reflexes, as well as a vast array of high-tech gadgets at his disposal.

One of the most recent rumors for the new Batman game has stated that the game will feature a Shadow of Mordor-like nemesis system. This feature could work wonderfully in a game starring Black Panther, where T'Challa might have to deal with numerous enemies who want to usurp the throne of Wakanda.

Constantine

A Constantine video game could be steeped in horror

Besides the hand-to-hand combat found in the Batman: Arkham games, players will most likely point out Detective Vision as one of the standout features; however, Bruce isn't the only detective in DC's roster of heroes. John Constantine is a detective in his own right where he specializes in the occult and occasionally uses magic, often teaming up with the likes of Justice League Dark.

The Detective Vision mechanic in the Batman: Arkham series could lend itself incredibly well to a game starring Constantine. And considering the paranormal and occult nature of the Hellblazer's many adventures, the game could be steeped in the horror genre and modeled after the creepy Scarecrow missions found throughout Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight.

Doctor Strange

From the sorcerer detective of DC Comics to the Sorcerer Supreme of Marvel, Doctor Stephen Strange, who was famously portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, wields a vast variety of magic. In addition to his seemingly limitless potential to learn new spells, Strange also has a deep and varied rogues gallery of villains including Baron Mordo, Dormammu, and Shuma-Gorath.

A game starring Doctor Strange seems like it would lend itself well to the power of the next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X. Being able to bend buildings and alter their perceived reality on a whim through the inclusion of the new SSD could prove to be a fun power fantasy for players.

Static

A game about Static Shock could rival Spider-Man Mile Morales

Static is a superhero that many fans who grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons will be familiar with through Static Shock. Static's powers, as implied by his name, are all based around electromagnetism, and even though he's technically a high school student, he has proven himself to be an expert strategist and keen mind.

Although Static does have his own crew of evil-doers that he faces in his comic series, it might be more enticing for players if the game was centered around villains like Ebon, Hotstreak, and Talon, as well as plotlines from Static Shock. Incorporating these along with unique travel mechanics like Static's flying disc could allow for DC to give Spider-Man: Miles Morales a run for its money.

Green Lantern

Green Lantern HBO Max game could feature multiple characters and space exploration like No Man's Sky

In the lore of Green Lantern, every color on the color spectrum is associated with a different emotion and is manifested in the form of a ring which has the ability to create light constructs. The farther away from the center of the spectrum the color is, the less control the user has over the ring, making Red Lanterns and Violet Lanterns (known as Star Sapphires) the most volatile and dangerous to fight.

Members of the Green Lantern corps are essentially space cops who travel and patrol different systems trying to keep the peace. With this in mind, a game where players are able to play as multiple Green Lanterns like Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner traveling from planet to planet in real-time, similar to No Man's Skycould prove to be a distinctive superhero experience.
