Owners of 2021 Samsung Smart TVs can now stream Xbox games directly on their TVs without the need for a dedicated console. Xbox first announced the feature last June, when the Xbox app with Xbox Cloud Gaming capabilities was made available on Samsung's 2022 Smart TV lineup. Now, the feature is being expanded to the 2021 lineup as well, bringing Xbox games to more Samsung TV owners.

Back in June, Xbox explained that through its partnership with Samsung, hundreds of games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library would be available to subscribers without a console. With the help of the Xbox app on their Samsung Smart TVs, subscribers can play games directly through the cloud with a Microsoft account and a Bluetooth controller. Fast-forward almost six months, owners of Samsung's 2021 Smart TVs can now also enjoy the same cloud-powered gaming experience.

Originally announced at The Game Awards, Samsung shows the feature being showcased by renowned streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins. Viewers can see Ninja playing Fortnite with an Xbox controller in front of a Samsung Smart TV, with no console or PC in the vicinity. Viewers can also hear Ninja describing his experience as "smooth" and "responsive." He also mentions "Unreal Engine 5.1," suggesting that he was playing the latest build of Fortnite launched just several days ago.

In two other videos uploaded to the same channel, Samsung shows off what kind of games that its TV owners can expect to play with this new streaming feature. Some of the highlighted games include not only Xbox's first-party titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, and Sea of Thieves, but also a few other third-party titles like Slime Rancher 2 and Persona 5 Royal, both of which have just been released fairly recently on the Xbox Game Pass.

Anyone with a 2021 Samsung Smart TV might see this game streaming feature as a big upgrade, especially those who previously hesitated to buy a console. Aside from the monthly subscription and the TV itself, the only other investment that they need to afford is a Bluetooth controller. It doesn't have to be an Xbox controller either, as Samsung's video also features some third-party options, including the controller for a competing streaming service, Amazon Luna.

Xbox has been touting cloud gaming as the future of gaming for some time now. Making its cloud gaming service more accessible and available on more platforms is one way to fulfill that vision, which is why Xbox is also bringing the same streaming feature to Meta Quest 2.
