Eh, 1 Vs. 100's Third Season Canceled

After a Guinness World Record earning beta and two seasons of prize winning fun, the 360's version of 1 Vs. 100 is no more. The third season of the hugely popular trivia show has been canceled due to other priority projects. A collective, "Eh," resounds throughout the world.

Dave McCarthy, General Manager at Microsoft Game Studios, had this to say:

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept." ... "We're very proud of the '1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

I've played 1 Vs. 100 when it was initially released and was disappointingly unimpressed. You spend more time in a lobby waiting than actually answering trivia. Then, even if you're successful at the game you will likely never play for any prizes. There's virtually no reward for your time commitment beyond the feeling of a trivia questioned well answered.

So it comes as no surprise to me that 1 Vs. 100 was just a feature test for Microsoft, who must have some sort of plot for future time wasting game shows. I'm imagining a live American Idol style game show where you can sing along with the various contestants and thousands of people can judge your performance. The best contestants will then answer trivia. Genius.

Who are we kidding though, we all know that 1 Vs. 100 was likely pulled because of poor ratings and that there will likely never be one of these "new projects". At least no new project that's built upon the features 1 Vs. 100 pioneered. Or, of course, Microsoft can prove me wrong. Double dog dare.

Have you played 1 Vs. 100, Ranters? Will you miss it now that it is gone? What kind of game show do you hope they implement next?
