It is not uncommon to find Pokemon Trading Cards being sold at extremely high prices, as they have become items of interest for collectors. Recently, a box of Pokemon TCG cards was auctioned at an absurdly high price, making it one of the most expensive collectible card transactions in history.

Cards of the Pokemon TCG have previously been sold at extremely high prices. For example, a rare Blastoise card was sold at $360,000. There has even been a card set sold at $408,000, even though it was an unopened box, which meant there was no way of knowing which cards would be inside.

This time, the contents of the Pokemon TCG set that was auctioned were not a mystery. Since the card set was a first edition from 1999, the collection included every card that was released in said year.

The box was in perfect condition and it included every original card which is what made it a very interesting item for PTCG collectors. The set was sold at a shocking price of $666,000 and it contains an original first edition Charizard card which can be sold for $200,000 alone.

The auction website lists the Alakazam, Blastoise, Chansey, Charizard, Clefairy, Gyarados, Hitmonchamp, Machamp, Magneton, Mewtwo, Nidoking, Ninetales, Poliwrath, Raichu, Venasaur, and Zapdos among the set's highlights. Additionally, the set was classified as "Gem Mint" condition which is the highest for PTCG cards.

PTCG sets seem like a good inversion for many collectors as the prices have been reaching record-worthy prices. Moreover, it does not seem like the interest in the cards is going to fade anytime soon. The famous YouTuber, Logan Paul, was reportedly spent about $2 million dollars on PTCG.

Additionally, there are rumors that this year McDonald's will release collectible cards as part of the Happy Meal's toys and some cards might also be reprinted which could be a sign that the craze over Pokemon cards is not going away anytime soon.

Even if it seems like collecting PTCG is a safe bet, there is no certainty about how much the cards will cost in the future. Although it looks like Pokemon cards' popularity will only increase in the months to come, there is no telling if this will actually be a good year for Pokemon card collectors. Even so, Katy Perry has confirmed that she is working together with The Pokemon Company to create songs for the game and it is likely that other collaborations with celebrities will be announced in the near future.
