Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a darker twist on the tale of Robin Hood and his band of thieves. As notable characters from English folklore players are tasked with infiltrating a heavily guarded structure to steal a valuable treasure. While a legendary band of thieves seems more than capable of executing such a heist, players will find it to be far more difficult.

Dozens of guards patrol throughout the map and an enemy gang seeks the same riches. This creates a unique PvPvE dynamic that can be difficult for players to manage. Overall, Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a complex game with a significant learning curve and there are many mistakes that players are bound to make.

10 Playing Without Practice

As with every video game, it is tempting to cut straight to the fun portions without sufficient practice especially in Hood: Outlaws & Legends. Usually, once players finish the tutorial, they consider themselves to be ready for online heists. However, training provides players the opportunity to analyze each map, NPC, and strategy without the threat of enemy players.

Simply jumping into online matches will have players learn as they deal with NPCs and enemy players. Not only will this result in terrible matches but also increase the substantial learning curve of the game. Regardless of how confident players may be, it is always best to practice before starting an actual heist.

9 Choosing One Class & Sticking With It

A Split Image Of Each Outlaw

Hood: Outlaws & Legends provides players with four distinct classes: the Ranger, the Hunter, the Brawler, and the Mystic. Each of these characters has its own unique playstyle, strengths, and weaknesses. Despite this many players typically set their minds on one class without proper consideration for its functionality. While certain characters are appealing players should test every class before making their choice.

Sticking to one class from the start prevents players from choosing a character suitable to them. Players may find that they perform better or enjoy using one class over the other. However, without attempting to use other characters they will never truly know. Moreover, players should not limit themselves to only one class but instead, learn how to use at most two characters. This will allow players to be adaptable when creating a team and ensures that they have an enjoyable experience.

8 Creating An Unbalanced Team

The Hunter & The Ranger

Before beginning a heist, teams must choose from any of the four characters. Every class is a viable option that can provide significant aid to the mission. However, there can be multiple of the same classes which can lead to numerous issues during the match. Each character excels and struggles at certain tasks and without diversity, teams are doomed to fail.

Ideally, teams should consist of each class but there are few exceptions to this rule. A balanced team is one that can serve each vital step in acquiring the treasure. For instance, teams need either a Brawler or a Mystic to effectively lift the chest and wind the winch. A team void of these characters will not be able to transport the treasure without excruciating difficulty. So before readying up players should ensure that their team is suited for achieving each step.

7 Forgetting To Use Distractions

The Hunter Moves Behind Guard

Hood: Outlaws & Legends puts considerable emphasis on being stealthy. Staying hidden allows players to silently execute guards, easily pickpocket the key, and surprise attack unsuspecting enemy players. However, players seem to forget one vital mechanic that can make sneaking much easier.

Players can distract enemies either by whistling or throwing a rock. While these functions are seemingly unimpressive, they can completely change the game. Distractions grant players openings to pass by or assassinate guards and they can even be used to draw attention to enemy players. The possibilities that distractions provide are nearly limitless and players should utilize them more often.

6 Rushing For The Key

The Ranger & The Sheriff

The starting objective for players is to pickpocket the key from the relentless Sheriff. It is one of the most crucial steps that can dictate the outcome of the game. So, it is understandable why players would simply rush towards the Sheriff without consideration for stealth. However, often running for the key can prove to be more deterring than players would think.

By sprinting to get the key players will most definitely alert the guards and cause a domino effect of issues. Upon being seen the guards will close off the gates, call for backup, and mark the player's location for others to see. This creates nearly insurmountable obstacles and provides the enemy team the opportunity to get the key or attack. Instead of rushing the Sheriff players should utilize the rewarding stealth mechanics of the game.

5 Forgetting To Use The Map

Map Coastal - Caer Merthyr

Hood: Outlaws & Legends provides players with six different maps to execute a heist. Each map is distinct with unique structures and incomparable layouts. Overall, every location can be difficult to traverse through, and without adequate knowledge of the terrain, players may make punishing mistakes. Despite this fact, many players fail to utilize the detailed map given to them.

Using the map is very important for new and experienced players. Even through constant repetition players cannot precisely mark every shortcut or resource location. In addition, players may risk taking longer routes or hitting dead ends which can be costly in this unforgiving game. Regardless of how knowledgeable a player may be with maps, they should make an effort to use them.

4 Ignoring Shortcuts Or Alternate Routes

The Ranger At A Sniping Position

Every location in Hood: Outlaws & Legends has numerous routes and shortcuts for players to take. These alternate ways to travel can save players valuable time or offer them positions to flank opponents. Even though these paths prove to be beneficial many players rarely use or ignore them altogether.

While scouring the map for these routes seems less rewarding it provides countless benefits to players. Most importantly it offers players more direct paths to important locations throughout the map. This game focuses on wasting as little time as possible and shortcuts work to attain this goal.

In addition, certain routes can grant players access to sniping points or positions behind the enemy. Overall, these paths provide players with indispensable advantages over the enemy team, especially if they are unaware of them.

3 Ignoring Spawn Points

The Spawnpoint Map

At the start of the game, players spawn at a designated spawn point but they can capture other areas further in the map to respawn. These spawn points allow players to quickly return to the heist after their untimely deaths.  While these spawn points are obviously vital to the game many players unknowingly ignore them.

Usually, it is not the player's fault as it is difficult to look past the main objective of the game. However, these spawn points are almost as crucial to the game as capturing the treasure. Players without these spawn points are forced to respawn a great distance away from important parts of the map.

This grants the enemy team time to capture the chest and winch it away ultimately winning the game. So, players should keep a keen eye out for their spawn points if they are to win.

2 Forgetting To Parry/Dodge

The Mystic Fighting Guards

The combat system in Hood: Outlaws & Legends is fairly simple yet punishing to those that make mistakes. Each character utilizes a different approach to fights but they are all capable of defending themselves. The Brawler and the Mystic can block/parry while the Ranger and the Hunter can dodge attacks. Nevertheless, players will often mindlessly spam attacks only to be defeated by more cautious foes.

Regardless of which class players use they should never risk taking damage. All it takes is one powerful hit for enemy players to gain an advantage. Moreover, players that parry/dodge an attack can counter opponents and turn the battle in their favor. No matter how vulnerable an opponent may seem players must never let down their guard.

1 Working Alone

Team Of Outlaws Sitting Down

Hood: Outlaws & Legends premise and its characters are derived from the tale of Robin Hood. Everything has been influenced somewhat by the story even the teamwork-focused gameplay. Teams must cooperate with one another to effectively acquire the treasure and deter enemy players. In spite of this fact, many players will work separately from their team to fulfill their own agenda.

As stated before, players must designate roles to each member in order to successfully deliver the treasure. It is nearly impossible for a team to win through the efforts of one individual. Only through each player's contribution can they successfully complete the heist. Regardless of the reason, players should not divide themselves from their team to focus their efforts elsewhere.
