Werewolf by Night recently released on Disney+, as the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The short Halloween special centers on several Marvel Comics characters, including the titular Jack Russell, monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone, and the mysterious swamp monster known as the Man-Thing, a.k.a. "Ted."

Though Werewolf by Night works on its own, it also serves as an introduction to the world of monsters and hunters in the Marvel universe. With that in mind, the addition of these three characters may allude to future newcomers in the Marvel Studios roster. These ten characters may be making their appearance in a Marvel film sooner than later.

10 Ghost Rider

The character of Johnny Blaze is no stranger to on-screen adaptations. Nicolas Cage played the role in two films released in 2007 and 2012, while Tom McComas made an unofficial MCU debut as the character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during its fourth season. Nevertheless, the character has yet to appear in an MCU film or Disney+ series.

However, the motorcycle-riding spirit of vengeance is a central member of the Marvel Comics team known as the Midnight Sons. This team, during its time, has also included the likes of Werewolf by Night and Elsa Bloodstone, as well as MCU characters like Doctor Strange and Moon Knight. Hopefully, all these characters get to coalesce at some point.

9 Mephisto

Obviously, if Ghost Rider is to make an appearance in the MCU, it would also stand to reason that Mephisto would join as well. The character was notably theorized to debut in WandaVision, though that never came to pass. Recently, rumors have suggested that Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing the character in the upcoming series Ironheart.

Assuming the Ironheart rumors are true, Mephisto could be a big player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is a link to many other monsters in the Marvel universe, including Hellstorm, and has even been a multiversal threat to the Avengers after teaming up with his variants to form the Council of Red.

8 Queen Shiklah

Werewolf by Night, the Man-Thing, and Elsa have also been members of another Marvel Comics team, the Legion of Monsters. One of the central leaders of this team in the comics is Shiklah, Queen of the Underworld. After marrying Count Dracula, Shiklah becomes a large figure in Marvel's world of vampire hunters, including Blade.

As a succubus, Shiklah could be a very harmful character in the world of the MCU. Particularly, the character has a close relationship with Deadpool, who is set to make his MCU debut with Deadpool 3 in Phase 6. Perhaps Shiklah and Dracula will appear in this film as part of Wade Wilson's first official foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

7 Frank Castle

Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in The Punisher series

Technically, Frank Castle has already made his MCU debut, portrayed by Jon Bernthal in the Netflix Marvel universe. The character first appeared in Daredevil, then later got his own show with The Punisher. However, the character has yet to make the transition from Netflix series to MCU official series or film like Matt Murdock and Kingpin have.

Hopefully, if the Punisher ever makes his MCU debut, it will also be a return for Jon Bernthal. Since the character's conflicts with Daredevil have already been explored, it'd be interesting to see more monster-centric stories from the comics that Castle has been involved with. In one case, he was revived as a zombie known as Frankencastle.

6 The Living Mummy

Originally known as N'Kantu, this undead Marvel Comics character was once a chieftan to the Swarili tribe before being enslaved by Egypt's pharaoh. Later, N'Kantu revolted and then faked his death, being enshrined in a tomb. Unfortunately, N'Kantu ended up trapped underground for centuries, eventually becoming the Living Mummy.

The character later made brief appearances all throughout Marvel Comics. He was notably a member of the Legion of Monsters, and also was imprisoned during the first Superhuman Civil War. Given that Moon Knight has introduced Egyptian mythology into the MCU, the Living Mummy's time to shine may not be far off in the future.

5 Mockingbird

Barbara Morse was a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the early eras of Marvel Comics. Notably, she was part of Project: Gladiator, the attempt to recreate Steve Rogers' Super Soldier Serum that resulted in Dr. Ted Sallis' transformation into the Man-Thing. She later helped rescue Man-Thing from soldiers of A.I.M., a rival organization.

Later on in Marvel Comics, Barbara becomes a valuable member of several Avengers teams, as well as the Daughters of Liberty. Nevertheless, her association with the Man-Thing could make her important in any future stories told about the scientist once known as Ted. Perhaps, like Jack, she can also communicate with the monster.

4 Morgan Le Fay

Elizabeth Hurley as Morgan Le Fay in Runaways

Centuries ago, Morgan Le Fay was the half-sister to King Arthur of Camelot. She later joined forces with his enemy, Mordred, until they were stopped by Arthur and the Black Knight. Le Fay later summoned the demon Chthon, using his powers to access the Darkhold and later become an ally of Doctor Doom.

The character previously made her MCU debut in the Hulu series Runaways, though it hasn't been made canon in the main MCU series and films. There, she was played by Elizabeth Hurley, who could again reprise the role. Perhaps she'll face Werewolf by Night like she does in the comics, or even encounter Kit Harington's Dane Whitman.

3 Captain Britain

Brian Braddock as Captain Britain in the comics

When it comes to Arthurian mythology, Dane Whitman and Morgan Le Fay aren't the only notable characters. There's also Brian Braddock, an English professor who inherits the Amulet of Right, becoming the staff-wielding Captain Britain. The character later teams up with Captain America against the Red Skull.

Later on, however, Braddock is responsible for establishing Braddock Academy, a school for British heroes. Elsa Bloodstone was once a teacher there, so a relationship between her and Braddock could be possible in the MCU. It would also be interesting to see either of these two characters interact with Dane Whitman from Marvel's Eternals movie.

2 Kraven The Hunter

This iconic Spider-Man villain is also set to make his on-screen debut in the Sony Spider-verse, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It's unclear now if the character will ever interact with the larger MCU, or even Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Nevertheless, many fans may find it hard to imagine this version of the character after Taylor-Johnson played Quicksilver.

Nevertheless, Kraven is a deeply important character to Marvel Comics. As a hunter, Kraven's desires could pose a threat to Jack Russell and Ted. The character also has some nasty skirmishes in the comics with Elsa Bloodstone, as is expected given both of their statuses as great hunters. Hopefully, he finds a home somewhere in the MCU.

1 Magik

Illyana Rasputin wielding a sword in the comics

Illyana Rasputin is a mutant sorceress who becomes a member of the X-Men in the comics. However, as a young girl she also becomes a student of the Strange Academy, which features teachers on its staff including Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff, and, of course, the Man-Thing. She's also related to Colossus, who appeared in the Deadpool movies.

å

In the comics, Illyana also has a close connection to Bloodstones. While the prisoner of Belasco the Corrupted, Illyana's soul was turned into a Bloodstone that Belasco used for his own power. Nevertheless, if the character happens to run into the Bloodstone-possessing Elsa, they might have some complicated pasts to overcome.
