Fans of skateboarding had to wait a long time for a solid game involving the sport to come back. Thankfully, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is one of the most perfect remakes to ever release. Vicarious Visions' work bringing these two games up to modern standards is simply remarkable, surpassing even their prior efforts with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Despite the incredible step forward the series just took, the new game still has several flaws which the developer should address through patches. None of these issues ruin the game, but remedying them will help this already beautiful vision shine even brighter.

10 Private Lobbies

Online multiplayer extends the game's life tenfold as people test their skills against others in a small handful of game modes. But while one can party up with buddies and compete in the same lobby lobbies, they are unable to start a private match. This is unfortunate because some game modes, particularly Horse, are unavailable for online play. Hopefully they let players make private lobbies to play Horse together online.

9 More Cosmetic Options

Like in the previous games, players can make their own skater to take on the career mode and bring online. Unfortunately, the options are limited with some curious exclusions. Glasses do not exist, making any player who wears them out of luck if they want to create themselves. Being able to edit individual facial features with a slider would also be appreciated. It was available on the older Neversoft titles, so it is strange to see it absent here.

8 Higher Score And Combo Challenge Goals

The player who reaches the target goal first in Score and Combo Challenge wins. As of now, these scores often fall between one hundred and two hundred thousand points.

For many veteran players, these scores are an absolute cakewalk, taking only about seven seconds to achieve. To make it more engaging for skilled virtual skateboarders, they should make these goals significantly higher, perhaps even greater than one million.

7 Doing The Goals More Than Once

In the original games players had to beat the career mode with each individual skater. Some players were surprised to find that one could only do the career mode once and then it was one hundred percent accomplished. When going through the levels with different skaters, all they collect are stat points. For old time's sake, they should let players do the goals again if they desire, giving some added incentive to do so.

6 More Game Modes In Multiplayer

The multiplayer works decently enough; it is easy to find games and lag rarely affects gameplay. However, only a few game modes are currently available, and one will be playing the same modes on the same maps after just a few hours. The developer could do a lot with the core gameplay to craft some more interesting game modes. Perhaps some modifiers could spice things up as well, like doing a round with low stats or without specials.

5 More In-Depth Stat Tracking

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 keeps track of a lot the player does including their highest combos, total amount of tricks, and time spent grinding, mauling, and using lip tricks. However, the game is lacking when tracking certain multiplayer stats. One's total wins are counted, but it is currently impossible to know the win/loss ratio, which would be an even better indicator of skill than simply how many times one has taken first place.

4 Multiplayer Seasons

As of now, there is little incentive for one to play past the simple joy of skating and reaching level one hundred, which is more than enough for many. However, this game presents a wonderful opportunity to create an addictive meta game similar to something like Call of Duty or Rocket League. As long as it does not present pay-to-win mechanics or puts too much behind a pay wall, it would be a great way to keep players engaged for months to come.

3 Removing Tricks

Tricks are fully customizable like in the prior games, a godsend for those particular with their arsenal. But curiously enough, it is impossible to remove a button prompt for tricks. For example, some flip tricks are left, left, and flip trick. Some players may want to remove these since they can accidentally pull these off in a combo and bail when they just wanted to do a kickflip. Hopefully it would not be too difficult to implement this.

2 Glitches

While few and far between, some glitches affect the gameplay. For example, sometimes a run will start and the player will have no control over the character until they press the Ollie button. It is not a huge deal, since it only seems to happen in career mode and not during competitive play, but it should be addressed nonetheless. Glitches are never a good look for a game, after all.

1 Four Player Split-Screen

Thankfully, the game supports two player split-screen action for buddies to compete against each other locally. However, it would have been nicer to play with four people together. Maybe the frame rate would take a hit, but it is a worthy sacrifice to have the ability to cram more friends into the game. If one wants some four player split-screen action in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, they will have to whip out their original Xbox and play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x.
