It looks like today’s hot rumor has come in the form of new details leaked on the Japanese message board 2chan about Nintendo’s next installment of The Legend of Zelda, lovingly nicknamed Zelda Wii.
You may ask, “Why, good sir, should I care about rumors posted on some weird message board that sounds disturbingly similar to 4chan?” Well, I’ll tell you. That’s because this “weird message board” has played host to some big rumors in the past that have turned out to be truer than John Wayne’s grit (see what I did there?). Details about Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 4, and many Square-Enix games have all been posted there and ultimately confirmed.
If it’s not already obvious, the following information will contain SPOILERS if they turn out to be true. If you don’t want to take the chance, then shut off your monitor and go watch Conan.
With a bit of paraphrasing, here are a few:
- The game will not be the typical overworld/dungeon setup we are accustomed to
- Gameplay mechanics are finished, characters and story still being worked on
- Will be able to choose right-handed or left-handed for Link
- Girl in the concept art is named something like Adelle, Adella, or Aderu, and is not the Master Sword
- Link’s sword will not be the Master Sword, and you will be able to unlock abilities with it
- There will be combat on horseback
- And here’s the Big One: Link may be the Hero of Time with time travel possible, making the story related to both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask
I am still trying to wrap my brain around all of this. If this turns out to be true, it could be that Nintendo listened to complaints about Twilight Princess (and the whole Zelda franchise) concerning reused gameplay mechanics and design.
It looks like exciting things could be ahead for this franchise. I, for one, would welcome innovation, despite having loved every Zelda game in existence. Let’s just make sure we move forward and not backward, eh?

What complaints about Twilight Princess? Twilight Princess was as close to perfect as a game can get without being A Link to the Past. Ocarina of Time, Link's awakening . . . also fantastic. More of the same, please, though do try to avoid the Majora's, Oracles, and Wind Wakers. Thanks.
I think it's time to mix the format up for sure. Though, I hope it's not too large a departure from the spirt of the game.
I'd still like to see a more cinematic (read Uncharted-like) Zelda action title.
This should explain a lot then. However, I don't want another Hero of Time Link, I'm More then fine with a Majoras Mask Sequel but I would like it to take place Far after Twilight Princess (Im not a huge fan of Prequels). But if it is then I hope it will explain what link did that was so Significant that made him remembered in Twilight Princess (the events of Ocarina of Time never happened since this takes place in the Child Timeline), and I want to know how he died and why he was called “The Cursed Swordsman” on his TombStone in Twilight Princess. I guess I do have a lot of Questions but I still want Nintendo to Work Towards the Future instead of Explaining something that already happened.
There was not enough secrets in Twilight. The bug collection and poe collection are a waste of time. Ocarina of time you get the big sword for the side quests which is tight. ya they need more secrets. Twilight was good but lame for extra quests
Twilight Princess might have worked with “episodic content” of sorts, but it was ultimately disappointing compared to the more innovative Majora's Mask and Wind Waker.
These rumors sound both interesting and plausible, here's hoping their true!
I dig the idea of integrating with the events of Ocarina of Time which everyone played on the N64.

Are you kidding Majora's Mask was awesome. In my opinion, it was better than OoT.
Well after beating MM I have always been hoping for its sequel!!! I can't believe why people hat it so much while the game just simply kick ass!!! What was so annoying about the three days anyway? It was the STORY of the game and it made the game difficult which I have always wanted in every game! I just don't like the EASE of enemies in the games if they made the game super hard that would really rock!!! To beat a boss first find its weaknesses which should take the whole instead of of 5 minutes:-( ! The game should at least roughly take a few months to complete which would make us Zelda fans really busy with the game instead of beating it really fast! And if they don't want to add the Master Sword then I'm very sure that time travel is impossible(If it was the OOT time travel) and if it was MM time travel then I don't really know but they are gonna make a perfect replacement for the Master Sword! And I don't want Link to be old:-( really I want him to be TP aged Link or else it would kinda ruin my like against Link!!! He is always been a kid or teenager but I personaly prefer teenager Link he feels much darker!!! AND OF COURSE NO CELL SHADING I WANT A MATURE GAME!!!!! I just want the Zelda nostalgia back the most, cause without it it wouldn't be a Zelda game to me!!!! And I always loved Navi I want her back!!!!! LONG LIVE THE LEGEND OF ZELDA
Navi sucks, Midna prolly best sidekick in series, though Tatl in MM had sort of the same attittude, the whole i'll help you but its really for my own agenda type thing.
