Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated games currently in development is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Fans know so little about it, having received just a couple of trailers thus far. For what it’s worth, fans don’t even know the title’s real name, and fans have eagerly awaited Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 at every Nintendo event that’s happened so far.

Some believe the next time Zelda: Breath of the Wild appears will be at a Nintendo Direct, as the Big N almost always has a big one or two early in the year. At the same time, fans think it might be even sooner, believing that Geoff Keighley is actually teasing its appearance at the Game Awards.

In a recent tweet, Geoff Keighley mentioned watching the final cut of a Game Awards world premiere that has been in development for 2.5 years, adding that he and the Game Awards crew were “truly honored” to share this with the world. It’s vague enough that Keighley could just truly be talking about anything, but many fans jumped on the Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 bandwagon.

Many point out that Breath of the Wild 2 was first announced almost exactly 2.5 years ago, others suggest a purported timeline of info as promised by Eiji Aonuma adds up with this reveal, and some point out that Zelda has “Game Awards history.” It should also be pointed out that Keighley followed up this tweet with a mention of traveling globally, which is a potentially good sign. Some made a few jokes of it being there, but there are several hoping to see Breath of the Wild 2 at The Game Awards.

Some have pointed out one aspect that may work against Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’s appearance. Technically speaking, because it has been seen before, Zelda: BOTW 2’s appearance at the Game Awards, if it happened, would be a “World Premiere.” It’s important to note, however, that World Premiere is more of a general term used by The Game Awards, not always literally meaning the first time the world has seen a game.

It would be the first time the world saw new footage, perhaps even the proper title of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and that would likely be more than enough for the news-hungry fans. For now, fans can only wait and see what’s there, with the event set to take place on December 9.
