Those that pickup annual sports video games every year aren't use to getting major change ups. The campaign usually stays true to last year's offering, with some improvements throughout, but wrestling fans never know what to expect from the single-player aspect of their beloved WWE titles.

Fans already got an idea of what awaited them in the upcoming gaming slam-fest, WWE 2K15, in the form of 2K Showcase, and now more details have dropped on the new mode. Set to offer longtime fans the option to play through iconic rivalries with documentary-styled footage and narration, the new mode will allow players to relive some of the most iconic and intense matches from throughout WWE history.

Since the premise was announced, however, gamers and fans alike have been speculating on which matches would make the cut in WWE 2K15's 2K Showcase mode. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock seems like a given, but 2K Games has opted to announce two separate rivalries that'll be appearing within the game.

These heated battles will be comprised of matches between Shawn Michaels and Triple H as well as the rather unexpected offering of CM Punk and John Cena. While Hunter (HHH) and the Heart Break Kid (Shawn Michaels) makes perfect sense given the intensity of the encounters they've had, a rivalry featuring CM Punk wasn't expected after he more or less walked out on the company after the 2014 Royal Rumble. Still, no one at Game Rant is complaining.

In total, 33 matches will be offered in the mode and they'll provide historical objectives for players to achieve. As was the case in WWE 2K14's 30 Years of WrestleMania mode, meticulously checking off historical objectives from your to-do list will unlock everything from new wardrobe options to new wrestlers.

Not one to end there, 2K Games wrapped up the news drop with news that more matches and rivalries can be downloaded and added to WWE 2K15. It's not currently known whether or not these additional matches will cost players money, but we'd imagine that they will. If you've already invested in the Hulkamania Collector's Edition, what's a few more bucks though?

Stay tuned to Game Rant for more details on WWE 2K15 and its future DLC plans.
