‘WWE 13′ Gets a Stunning Collector’s Edition

Jul 17, 2012 by

Every year there’s a new WWE video game that body slams onto store shelves and does relatively well, and 2012 will be no different. As THQ gears up for what should be one of their best-selling games this year, the developer has released details on a collector’s edition of WWE 13. Since the game is based around the infamous Attitude Era, Yuke’s has picked the Superstar that best reflects this time period to theme the limited edition’s exclusive content around – Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The Texas Rattlesnake’s iconic Skull emblem is prominently displayed on the cover of the Austin 3:16 Collector’s Edition, but there’s a lot more included in the package than just a different cover. Fans of Stone Cold may want to sit down and say a few fond farewells to their hard-earned money, because the contents of this special edition are worth spending the extra cash on.

In terms of exclusive content, gamers will be given access to Austin’s ATV ring entrance in WWE 13, as well as an exclusive in-game Red Skull t-shirt for the world’s toughest S.O.B.. Those that snag this special edition of WWE 13 will also secure the previously announced Mike Tyson pre-order bonus. If none of this appeals to your inner wrestling fanatic, then there are a couple of tangible items in the Austin 3:16 Collector’s Edition that may.

Depending on which format is chosen, consumers will also receive a DVD/Blu-Ray of the third (PS3) or fourth (360) discs featured in the recently released Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Bottom Line on the Most Popular Superstar of All Time. There’s one more thing that really makes the collector’s edition worth investing in however, and that’s a collectible art card personally hand-signed by Stone Cold Steve Austin himself. Yeah, I bet that got your attention.

The Austin 3:16 Collector’s Edition of WWE 13 is only available through THQ’s online store, but it’ll only cost consumers $20 more than the standard version – retailing for $79.99. Sadly, Wii owners won’t be able to purchase a version for their console, as it’s only available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Anyone interested in this special edition of WWE 13 may want to pre-order soon though, because supplies are said to be very limited.

WWE 13 launches for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii on October 30th, and that’s the bottom line because Game Rant said so.

  1. I’ve liked most of the games so far, didn’t like last year’s story mode at all though.

Hopefully this one is better. Actually contemplating ordering the CE for this one since its not too pricy.

    • I agree. The single-player campaign in WWE 12, while more in-depth story wise, quickly became tedious. In WWE 13 you’ll be able to pick your wrestler though, so at least you’re not forced to be Sheamus or Triple H.

The price is quite reasonable for a Collector’s Edition, and the contents (Stone Cold’s autograph!!!) make it more than worth the extra $20.

      • Yup, I have a few WWE auto’s, and I am a collection fiend. After dropping over a 100 for a few CE’s recently, this doesn’t seem bad at all. But if this year’s isn’t much of an improvment I may have to take a few years off and hope they get their act together.

I love CAW and CAF and hope they keep doing more with it. Create a finisher, especially, has always been buggy and the transitions have been terrible.
