WWE 12 Roster Legends and Divas

Every year gamers are graced with a new WWE video game, just like we’ve become accustomed to for every game series out of EA Sports, and THQ announced a few months ago that they’d be ditching the old and visually-tiresome SmackDown vs. Raw moniker in favor of the new title WWE ’12.

While the name change and is great, it’s the final reveal of WWE ’12‘s roster that everyone really wants to see. Every year, fans of the WWE brand name and video games alike speculate on which Superstars will make it into this year’s annual installment, and every year some fans are disappointed while others are overjoyed to learn which of their favorite wrestlers made the cut.

THQ held a WrestleMania-sized event for the reveal of WWE’12‘s roster this Saturday, and they announced that a grand total of 60 Superstars (including legends and divas) will occupy the game’s roster when it launches this November. Without further ado, I give you the entire roster of WWE ’12.

Even with the entire game’s roster revealed, THQ still went on to detail their first planned DLC for WWE ’12. The first bit of downloadable content will be none other than Jerry “The King” Lawler, and he’ll be available the same day that the game body slams onto store shelves.

THQ has teased that there will be plenty more Superstars made available via DLC in the near future, so hopefully Superstars such as Shawn Michaels, Brett Hart, Randy Savage, and more will all become available for a reasonable sum in the very near future.

WWE ’12 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii on November 22.

What do you think of this year’s roster? Which Superstars past and/or present do you think should be in WWE ’12?

  1. As a long time wrestling fan (i know it’s stupid and fake but it’s also entertaining) I refuse to buy any more of these games until they back Jeff and Matt Hardy.

    • I’d love to see both Matt and Jeff Hardy return, but even Jim Ross thinks that will never happen. Both are great athletes though, and it would be a shame if they never returned to WWE.

    • @Jigsaw9856

As a fan of the sport myself, I would never call pro wrestling “stupid and fake” with all that people enjoy that is extremely stupid and fake (ie. Reality TV, the Jersey Shore). WWE has dissolved into nothing more than storylines, flashing lights and very few bright spots. The sport is far from stupid and fake, especially with wrestlers like Edge telling stories of the injuries, deaths and physical burdens of this SCRIPTED sport. Puroresu and Pro wrestling outside of the mainstream is where to find legit pro wrestling. So as a fan talking to a supposed fan (no disrespect) please dont call it stupid and fake when its something you’re suppose to enjoy and like “for a long time”, paraphrasing. I dont mean to sound like an ass, it just pisses me off when I see so many wrestlers hurting themselves for our enjoyment, and people still call it fake and stupid, let alone fans

As far as this game goes, I have yet to see the footage of this title. I havent bought a wrestling game since SvR 2008, and it was seriously bad. These games have fallen into stagnant territory b/c THQ has decided to focus more on visuals and less on gameplay. WCW/nWo Revenge and No Mercy are the best titles for wrestling games b/c they focused on wrestling. The older smackdown games were amazing too, but somewhere they got lazy and stuck with the same animations and decided to only add on, rather to actually develop a new game. Heres hoping this title will present a fresh experience

Check out my list of wrestling games that do the formula right. Wrestling games have since fallen off hard.

      • I think that THQ and Yuke’s have realized that their games have declined in quality with the past few instalments, but that’s why they’ve gone in and completely revamped the mechanics in WWE ’12. If you YouTube some of the gameplay footage you’ll see that the game looks completely different.

I was really impressed with the last wrestling game, WWE All-Stars, because it brought back that old arcade feel that made so many of the past games great. The game didn’t try to take itself seriously either, and that’s why it was such an enjoyable game to play.

I think WWE ’12 will change up everything for the better, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the final product ;)

      • I’m sorry if I offended you this is my intention. It’s just that I get a lot of ridicule for saying I like this yet I still support it. Also by fake I only meant scripted. I know they put their bodies on the line and understand that it’s not easy.

        • Crap meant to say it was not my intention.

    • I’d be perfectly happy never seeing the Hardy’s ever again. They are one of the most overrated tag teams ever and not even 1/10 as good as Edge and Christian were.

As for singles wrestlers, Jeff Hardy has vastly improved his promo ability in recent years but he’s still a sloppy wrestler who’d rather do drugs than wrestle so I could care less if I ever see him again. And Matt Hardy is an average wrestle with no personality and promo ability (he’s like Tommy Dreamer) so I could care less if I ever see him again either.

      • @Mike

The hardy boyz were not overrated in anyway. The issue is that they were over used during their run. When they were on top in the tag team era of 99-01 their were at least 6 teams off the top of my head that could have been the champs, but they booked Edge and Christian, Matt and Jeff, and the Dudleys based on popularity.

In terms of quality, Matt and Jeff were a great tag team. Jeff was the daredevil, and he had to tone down b/c he was too extreme for WWE at one time. In terms of Matt, he was always the better wrestler. Jeff was always sloppy, and his promo skills are still average at best. Matt is a great talker when what he says is genuine, and not catchphrases and gimmick statements. Look at his Lita and Edge feud promos, he’s a damn good talent, and an excellent wrestler.

In regards to the game, they wont be featured in the game b/c WWE has a strong belief in never promoting talent for a rival company. If Matt and jeff were featured on a WWE game, that would instantly give TNA more limelight, b/c everyone would wanna know where they are now. In terms of how they are now in TNA, thats another argument.lol

    • Just so you know, Matt I am unsure of just doesn’t want anything to do with wrestling I guess. But Jeff Hardy is so drugged up its not funny, he is honestly garbage now, the last match I saw him in on TNA against Sting, Sting honestly had to hold him down and pin him to end the match because he was making it look so bad that nobody and I mean nobody wanted to see him embarrass himself any further. The fans knew it, Sting knew it, and Jeff just can’t quit

      • Matt’s in TNA as well now, he hasn’t done anything, but he’s there

  2. It’s all about Edge, baby, a local boy.

I don’t follow wrestling but I remember when Edge wet solo, he was my fave, then he became the star for years.
    Love it!

  3. WHERES HBK?????

    • In the DLC pack

  4. the only person i think they are missing is goldberg i wish that he was on the list but i know he won’t ever be again but here’s hoping

  5. Okay, let me first start with Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy is in my books, not much more than a pot head/glorified stuntman… okay I’m done with Jeff Hardy

Now Matt Hardy, in my opinion (I enthasise “My opinion”) He is one of the most underated wrestlers in the world, rather than being recognised for his in ring ability and charizma (Each to their own, I happen to think Matt has loads of charizma) they decided to push his pot head brother because of his stupid emo personality and the fact that he can do a move that’s pretty much a delayed front flip off the top rope. Meanwhile, a guy who can actually wrestle is ignored and dubbed “Fatt Hardy” because he put on a few and wasn’t as “Extreme” as his pot head brother.

Here’s the scoop, I don’t care if I never see Jeff Hardy again, infact, I would relish it! Matt Hardy on the other hand is actually a good talent, much like Goldust, Finlay and like Christian used to be who WWE should all think about pushing before they get fed up and leave like they all should and go to TNA who actually takes guys like Mr. Kennedy who couldn’t make it in WWE because they’re to buzy paying attention to John Cena and turning them into guys like Mr. Anderson who turned out to be so popular that he’s become one of the main faces of that company. And TNA only have a very small venue and fan base, yet they can actually make shows more exiting based on how they mix up their talent.

In regard to the new game, it looks good, I like the roster selection, personally I was the tiniest bit disapointed when I heard that the control system was limited to the buttons on the face of the contoller, I feel you had much more control over the game this way, however I look forward to seeing how it works for them.

  6. Ummm…there are only 7 Divas in this game?

    “Eve
    Natayla
    Maryse
    Layla
    Michelle McCool
    Beth Phoenix
    Kelly Kelly”

What about Rosa Mendes? Alicia Fox? Tamina? Kaitlyn? AJ? and the Bella Twins???

    • Nope, none of those Divas have been announced. Some of them will likely be DLC.

    • Not meaning to sound sexist (Because I’m not, I’m all for women wrestlers so long as they can actually wrestle) but who cares about the Diva’s roster? I mean the majority of them can’t wrestle in my opinion, I usually go and get something to eat during the Diva’s matches
