World of Warcraft: Legion launched today and here is how players on both factions can complete the prerequisite quests and dive into the new level 100+ content.

With over twelve years worth of content filling the game, it can be a little easy to get overwhelmed when returning to World of Warcraft. The release of every expansion always triggers an influx in returning players and Legion is no different. For new players using the level 100 boost included with the Legion purchase or veteran players returning to explore the new content in Azeroth, here is how each faction gets started and unlocks the World of Warcraft: Legion content.

The servers are already overflowing with players working through Legion's opening quest line, but if you don't want to blindly follow the crowds onto the wrong zeppelin, here is how to navigate your character to the Legion Dalaran the right way...

The Broken Shores

First, players need to make sure that they are working with a level 98+ character. As long as your character isn't a demon hunter (they skip this phase of the chain) visit your faction leader in the capital city to begin the Broken Shores Questline. Some players may have already completed this question before launch, if that's the case, they will begin with the In The Blink of an Eye quest instead.

The next phase of the quest is called The Legion Returns and, again, locations will vary depending on the character's faction. Horde players will start at Dranosh'ar Blockade and Alliance players will grab the quest and head to Stormwind. Following the simple quest will eventually lead players to The Battle for the Broken Shores scenario. This is where the story really kicks off, we won't go into spoiler territory details.

The Fallen Lion/Fate of the Horde

After completing the eight stages of of the Broken Shores scenario, players will need to return to either Stormwind Keep or Orgrimmar for a cinematic and a short battle. This phase of the quest is called The Fallen Lion for Alliance players and Fate of the Horde for the other half.

At this point, players are caught up to the demon hunters and can begin the In the Blink of an Eye quest to witness the teleportation to Dalaran. After the teleportation is complete, players will find themselves in Legion Dalaran, which looks a lot like pre-expansion Karazhan Dalaran, but full of new NPC trainers and vendors.

At this point, an NPC will approach the player's character and give them a task that starts the Artifact Acquisition questlines. Choosing the correct artifact is very important, so be sure to consider what kind of leveling experience you want to have before committing.
