Witcher 3 Triss Yennefer Romance

Speedrunning is a popular activity among many gamers. Whether it's attempting to set a new official world record for speedrunning a particular game, or just trying to get through as many games as possible as fast as possible, gamers enjoy rushing through their favorite titles.

Most speedruns are done within a few minutes to a couple hours, allowing speedrunners to complete quite a few runs per day if they wish. However, what if a single speedrun took so long it couldn't even be completed in a day, even with a gamer playing non-stop? That would be the makings of an impressive title.

It turns out, that's exactly the case with the upcoming game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. A developer from CD Projekt Red, the company behind Witcher 3, revealed to Gamereactor Germany that it took the fastest internal tester 25 hours to complete the game.

The developer made sure to mention that the tester was very familiar with the game and was able to take all the best routes and click through all dialogues. We imagine a tester would also be a master at defeating enemies and knowing exactly where the best armor and weapons are to complete the game quickly.

This revelation about a 25 hours speedrun only helps solidify the developer's promise on the amount of gameplay available in Witcher 3. Damien Monnier, Senior Game Designer for the aforementioned title, recently shared that the game will take players over 200 hours to fully complete. We estimated at the time that the campaign alone would take somewhere around 50 hours and it sounds like that was a pretty good estimate.

It's important to note that since it was internal testers who completed the speedrun, they likely didn't use any types of glitch to aid their time, like players do with speedruns for games like Fallout 3. So it's very possible - and almost guaranteed - that once the game releases speedrun enthusiasts will be able to quickly squash that time. However, even if speedrunners are able to cut the time in half, that's still an extremely impressive amount of gameplay.

The most important take-away from this news is that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is definitely not lacking in content and should be well worth players' time and money. And based on the recently released gameplay trailers, we have no doubt that Witcher 3 will deliver an exciting, enjoyable experience for consumers.

What do you think about The Witcher 3's 25-hour speedrun? Will you try to beat that? Let us know in the comments.
