After his casting announcement was made last month, Maze Runner and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch star Will Poulter spoke out about his newest role as Adam Warlock in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

After being delayed due to Disney's decision to fire and then re-hire James Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, production on the film is set to begin soon. While Vol. 3 will conclude the story arcs of fan favorites like Star-Lord and Gamora, the film will make good on Vol. 2's post-credits promise to introduce Adam Warlock to the MCU.

Discussing his new Hulu series Dopesick with Variety, Poulter also touched on being the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Poulter would further share his experience of working on a smaller series like Dopesick to now transitioning over to a big blockbuster Marvel set for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, adding that the drastic change is a very exciting one. "I'm not really allowed to speak about the part," Poulter said. "Just given that it's Marvel I'm sworn to secrecy. But [I'm] very, very grateful to, you know, be talking about something like Dopesick on one hand and talking about something - or, not talking about something - like Guardians on the other. But very, very grateful to be doing both."

Poulter continued by saying he feels, "very honored to have been welcomed into the Marvel family. Everyone I've interacted with there is great and you know, [I'm] very excited to be part of a franchise like Guardians, which I regard to be like, one of the most creative and unique." While Poulter carefully avoided any specifics regarding his character and plot details for the upcoming comic book entry, Adam Warlock will surely play a prominent role moving forward into phase 4. Adam Warlock, originally set to play a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was instead briefly introduced in a post-credits scene where Ayesha unveils the perfect Sovereign creation to help destroy the Guardians. Fans then began to speculate who would play the exciting addition in Vol. 3 before director James Gunn eventually took to social media to share the exciting news.

Warlock first appeared back in 1967's Fantastic Four Nos. 66 and 67, where his (originally known as "Him") story centered on evil scientists on Earth called the Enclave that attempted to develop an army of perfect, invincible humans. While still forming, Warlock became well aware that his creators intended to use their newly formed army to conquer the whole world. Warlock would evolve to become this anti-hero, the sort of complex and conflicted character that Poulter seems perfect for (if his filmography is any indication). Fans can also witness Poulter flexing his acting chops in award-winning films like The Revenant, Detroit, and A24's Midsommar.

Gunn's ensemble will also feature returning characters like Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri. Chris Hemsworth's appearance as Thor in Vol. 3 still remains a mystery, as the actor has expressed his interest in joining the film, so fans will just have to wait and see what goes down in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently has a May 5th, 2023 release date.
