Rumor Patrol: Nintendo Wii U eShop Launch Lineup Leaked

Mar 21, 2012 by

Wii U World of Warcraft

While frequent denials from Sony and Microsoft point towards there being no unveilings of a PS3 or Xbox 360 successor, respectively, at E3 2012, it’s been long confirmed that Nintendo will hold nothing back as they fully showcase the Wii U (or whatever name they change it to if rumors are true).

Questions about the pricing, power and features of the system, its tablet controller, compatibility with Wii accessories, its online functionality and of course, its launch line-up will finally be answered – Unless of course, it leaks early…

According to what seems like an unlikely and unbelievable source of Dual Pixels, the Wii U digital launch line-up may have already been unveiled. Their inside source reveals a questionable, yet super interesting list of the eShop launch titles potentially coming to Nintendo’s next home console this fall in time for the holiday season. Take a look and be surprised:

A lot of the titles actually make sense with a few surprising exceptions, most notably, World of Warcraft from Activision Blizzard. That game coming to consoles would be a shocker, but it would allow the monster MMO to bump up their subscriber numbers which have dipped lately thanks to Star Wars: The Old Republic. With Diablo III all but confirmed for a console release from Blizzard as well, it does lend credence to such a thing.

If the leaked list was remotely true, keep in mind that it represents only eShop titles and does not include full retail releases for which, we know there will be many. Most of those will be games that have already released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 of course, but games like Batman: Arkham City, Assassin’s Creed and EA Sports titles for instance, will come with new gameplay features thanks to the Wii U tablet controller.

What games would you like to see come to the Wii U? We’d love to see a shocker like Grand Theft Auto V, as rumored last year, as well as the entire Mass Effect trilogy released as a collection. That would earn Nintendo the hardcore audience they’re aiming to appeal to.

  1. If this is true… holy crap.

    • I know right? That’s crazy.

  2. If this list is true I’d get Wii U day one. I haven’t played WOW in over a year but I’d try it out again on Wii U.

  3. Nnnaawwww. I mean, it could be, but I would be baffled if that were true. Even with a tablet controller, I can’t see how WoW could work on a console. It does look like a pretty realistic list, though, maybe aside from “Red Steel 2: Locked a Reloaded,” and I would expect a few more Nintendo titles, but yeah. I guess it’s plausible. Still, WoW… hard to believe that’d work out well.

  4. This seems reeeeally fake. I’d take this with a shaker of salt.

  5. Dota 2? How the hell would that be played properly on the wii u.

  6. Sigh, I hope it’s true – at least the Phantasy Star Online 2. That would, indeed, be amazing.

  7. If this is true, then the Wii U will be a must-have at launch. There’s no way it could be real though…. right? :P

  8. I’ll be there for Boom Blox. I can’t not buy the Boom Blox.

  9. “According to what seems like an unlikely and unbelievable source…”
If the source is so unlikely and unbelievable, why waste people’s time with this article? I could just have easily made up this list and given it to someone saying it was legit.

    • Would you rather not know about it? What if it was real? Is there not a worthy discussion from this?

      It’s relevant. That’s why.

  10. Also, the entire Mass Effect trilogy will never be on anything other than Xbox because Microsoft Game Studios owns the rights to the first Mass Effect. (btw, Bioware switching to EA was the biggest mistake they have made. You really think Bioware is to blame for the ending? EA is too competitive and wants their product on the market ASAP, and wants to milk it for all it’s worth.)

  11. If this list is accurate, I’d throw my computer out the window. Hoooooooly shiiiiiiit. So many amazing games, mindblowing. YAY FOR PSO2!!!!

  12. Also, if it’s true, this is probably the best launch lineup in the history of video game consoles.
