The first Nintendo Direct of 2020 will go live today, focusing entirely on Pokemon-related content. Nintendo hasn't spoiled exactly what kind of Pokemon-related content to expect, but fans can likely look forward to both a Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield update as well as other Pokemon news. There may even be a new Pokemon game announcement. For fans wanting to watch the Nintendo Direct as soon as it's gone live, here's how.

The Pokemon Direct for January 9 will be a hefty offering from Nintendo. It'll run an impressive 20-minutes long. The broadcast officially begins at 6:30 am PT/9:30 am ET, which is just a matter of minutes away. If anyone misses the start of the broadcast, however, don't stress. It's not really a livestream, but rather a pre-recorded video that's fully made available at the "stream's" start. Viewers can just restart the video to watch the whole thing, or skip forward to catch up with everyone else.

As usual, Nintendo's upcoming Direct will be hosted across several streaming services. Nintendo's main source for the broadcast will be Youtube. The Youtube stream will be embedded in this article, but Nintendo fans can also watch it on the official Nintendo website. Alternatively, fans can watch it on Twitch as if it were an actual live broadcast and not a pre-recorded video.

While exactly what Nintendo will share during the broadcast hasn't been officially revealed, some leaks have already hinted at a few fun surprises. For example, the official PlayPokemon Twitter account revealed a mysterious pink Gastradon for Pokemon Sword and Shield. It may be a free reward for an upcoming event. There are also rumors going around about a brand new Pokemon game announcement, which may be a new Mystery Dungeon. Fans will have to watch to find out, however.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
