Duke Nukem Forever

[HTML1]

Remember how disappointing Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines was? The other game Randy Pitchford's company failed on was Duke Nukem Forever, a title that was many years delayed and not to the benefit of the game's quality.

Fans of Duke Nukem 3D now haver a proper successor thanks to modders Gambini and Mikko Sandt who crafted Duke Nukem Forever 2013 (trailer up top). Want to play it? Go to ModDB to download.

60 Minutes of Bonus Watch_Dogs

When Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 on February 20th in New York, Ubisoft took to the stage to showcase a little more of Watch_Dogs, confirming it as a third-party launch title for the first officially announced next-gen console (not counting the Wii U). Thanks to Sony and Ubisoft's partnership, both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will have bonus exclusive content, that'll give PS players an extra 60 minutes of unique gameplay. It'll be available as DLC after launch.

Watch_Dogs releases November 19, 2013 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and this holiday for PS4 and the unannounced next-gen Xbox.

The Defiant Million

[HTML3]

Syfy's big budget multimedia experiment known as Defiance was poorly marketed and relatively barely noticed by gaming media, yet the show's successful start on air hit good ratings while the game celebrates an impressive 1 million user milestone. That however, is specifically referring to registered users, and not actual players who purchased the game. This makes us wonder why it's being advertised as such considering the only way players can actively participate is to pay the $60 retail price. It's not a free-to-play MMO. We tried it out and you can watch us play in the video above.

Defiance is now available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Obsidian's Next-Gen Intro

Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind the highly anticipated South Park: The Stick of Truth and Kickstarter-funded Project Eternity, along with classics including Fallout: New Vegas & Neverwinter Nights 2, is working on an unannounced next-gen title. The info comes from a combination of job listings at Obsidian and a next-gen namedrop on Art Director Rob Nesler's resume.  CEO Feargus Urquhart couldn't directly confirm any details but did say what they're working on is "great."

Pre-order User-Friendly Diablo 3

Also as part of the PS4 unveiling, Blizzard took to the stage to confirm years of rumors and speculation; that Diablo 3 was being developed for the consoles. It's already confirmed for PS3 and PS4 and is available for pre-order. Those who do pre-order the console version - which features redesigned user interfaces, controls and splitscreen play and drops the crappy and problematic always-online requirement - will be rewarded with the exclusvive in-game item known as the Infernal Helm which grants an XP bonus. Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment:

"We've poured blood, sweat, and hellfire into creating an epic Diablo III experience for PlayStation gamers. In addition to including all the improvements from the PC version over the past year, we've made several updates to Diablo III for play on the PS3. We got a ton of positive feedback from players who tried the game at PAX East, and we can't wait to get it into everyone's hands later this year."

There's still no release date.

Lost Planet 3 Multiplayer

[HTML6]

Capcom unveiled a few more details about the game's multiplayer offerings recently, specifically the Scenario and Akrid Survival modes:

  • Scenario Mode sets each team a series of either offensive or defensive challenges and mixes them up with the extreme and unpredictable conditions of E.D.N. III. Players can compete in both third person on-foot action and in first person combat using the futuristic Vital Suits, making this a dynamic gameplay experience.
  • Akrid Survival sees two teams of three players compete independently of each other in a series of encounters against waves of hostile Akrid before the teams go head to head in a final PvP elimination round.

There are four modes in total across six diverse maps, where players play as the NEVEC forces or Snow Pirates teams.

Lost Planet 3 releases August 27, 2013, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
