2012 has been an incredible year for the downloadable games. As the retail scene continues to fight for marketshare, games like Journey, Dear Esther and Mark of the Ninja show that the indie scene is still thriving. And even as the holiday season roles in, there are still more downloadable games on the way.
Sine Mora, originally released on the Xbox 360 earlier this year, has finally received a release date for the PS3 and Vita. Look for the shmup this Tuesday, November 20th 2012. While the game does come with Vita specific controls, it’s unknown if Sine Mora supports cross buy or cross save features. Nevertheless, Grasshopper Manufacture’s title is definitely worth a purchase; check out our review of the game to see why.
The Vita will also find itself home to yet another great title, in the form of DJMax Technika Tune. The game, long exclusive to Japanese Vita owners, will be making its way to North America early next month. Publisher Pentavision even crafted a limited run of retail editions, though they appear to be completely sold out. Never fret, as the game will be available December 4th on the PlayStation Store for $44.99. Typically, anything over $30 is quite a bit to ask for a downloadable title, but gamers must remember that DJMax Technika Tune is a retail game in Japan.
DJMax Technika Tune is just one of the many Japanese Vita games that we wanted to see come stateside, so it’s great to see the game receive a concrete release date. The rhythm game is sure to a welcome addition to any Vita owner’s collection, especially considering we’re still missing out on Hatsune Miku Diva F. C’mon and localize that one, Sega!
One game that likely won’t be making a 2012 is that of Lone Survivor. The PC title was met with warm reviews when it launched earlier this year, and is now being ported to the PS3 and Vita. The game, which plays on many survival horror themes, will be ported by the developers at Curve Studios. Many have expressed that the game works best with a keyboard, so it will be interesting to see how the port turns out.
In any case, it’s great to see the Vita receiving more high quality games. I personally can’t wait for DJMax Technika Tune. Which of the upcoming games are you most excited for?
