Game Rant Video Game Trailer Roundup Diablo 3 MechWarrior Tactics Project X Zone StarHawk FIFA 12 SSX

Have mainstream games have gotten too boring? This week’s roundup features a few interesting new games that have just released debut trailers. Of course, we’ve also got some goodies from well known titles that you may have missed during the week. Looking to get a fix on game trailers? We’ve got you covered!

This roundup features videos from: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, FIFA ’12, SSX, Awesomenauts, Reset, Diablo 3, Datura, Project X Zone, ARMA 3, Datura, MechWarrior Tactics, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, and Starhawk.

Game addiction is a serious disease… at least for these guys congregating in a Ghost Recon: Future Soldier gamers anonymous. In funny tales told through flashbacks, the support group reflects on all the ways that a gun can be customized to fit a player’s needs. In Future Soldier, there are 52 guns, each with up to 10 points of customization, which in turn allows for 20 million weapon variations. How could someone not be addicted?

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier releases May 22, 2012, in North America, and May 24, 2012 in Europe, for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version releases June 12.

Soccer hooligans who love the European spirit of the game will be thrilled to know that FIFA 12′s Euro 2012 Expedition mode has finally been released. This expansion pack allows gamers to create their own team, venture across the continent, and lead their team to glory. Which country will you represent?

FIFA 12 is on shelves now, and the Euro 2012 expansion pack debuted on April 24.

Looking to head back to the slopes for some serious shreddin’? Have no fear because SSX is back with brand new DLC, Mt. Eddie & Classic Characters. Revisit seven classic characters from SSX 3 to SSX Tricky. Mt. Eddie features nine new Race and Trick drops, and the pack will cost $7.99 / 640 Microsoft points. This new trailer focuses on Zoe.

Get SSX today and the Mt. Eddie DLC pack on May 1, 2012.

Remember that Sega, Namco Bandai and Capcom collaboration that promised to be something huge, then turned out to be a 3DS strategy RPG called Project X Zone? Well, now we’ve got a brand new trailer that features a lot of gameplay. Unfortunately, it is in Japanese, but just from the visuals alone, the game pretty much speaks for itself.

Project X Zone will be out sometime this year.

Looking for a beautiful, post-apocalyptic game that is both single-player and co-op? Check out this new puzzle/strategy game, Reset. Although the debut trailer reveals next-to-nothing, it is quite pretty with excellent cinematics and music. There is no gameplay, so for now we will all have to sit and accept this as a teaser for bigger and better thing to come.

There is no release date yet set for Reset.

In this new trailer for ARMA 3, we get a quick glimpse of a Stratis Island, a new location the game’s developers would like to showcase. “Situated in the North Aegean and stretching over 19 square kilometers,” reads the description,”Stratis adds geographical variety and expands the game’s massive military sandbox.” Now, take your first look at Stratis Island.

ARMA 3 will release in the the fourth quarter of this year.

Sony wants to focus on the Move this year, and Datura looks like it will try and capitalize on the technology as best as it can. It’s not the prettiest game in the world, but the concept looks interesting enough. In Datura, gamers will enter an eerie realm that has many interactive environments. The mission is to find out how the character ended up in his situation, where to go from there, and how to escape. Solve puzzles and unlock mysteries in order to discover the truth.

Datura has a May 9, 2012, UK release date. There no set date for the rest of the world.

Anxiously awaiting Diablo 3? With just a few weeks to go before its release, Blizzard wants to introduce gamers to the Witch Doctor. We’ve seen the Barbarian, but Witch Doctors are “spiritual warriors who summon dead souls and crawling creatures to do their bidding.” Given a little back-story through a cinematic narrative and gameplay, the Witch Doctor uses a slew of spells and magic to thwart his enemies.

Diablo 3 will be released on may 15, 2012.

When there is incredible ’80s-like theme music and a voice over similar to Don LaFontaine, it can only mean pure awesome — which is why this next game is called Awesomenauts. This side-scrolling, action-adventure game takes players through a colorful space exploration of chaos. The gameplay may look frantic, but it also looks like a lot of fun!

Awesomenauts will be out for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network soon, but no release date has been set!

Harnessing a source of energy can be both a gift and a curse, and in Starhawk it is the cause of the problem when folks start colonizing planets. Gamers must fight through an epic space battle, fighting off Rift Energy mutants. This is a cowboy Western meets science fiction, in which one Rift Energy farmer is fed up with all of the shenanigans going on in the Frontier. There is a lot of carnage and a big opportunity for multiplayer and online gameplay. Check out the trailer below.

Starhawk will be out for the PS3 on May 8.

Unveiling the first gameplay video for a new game is always fun. Our first look at MechWarrior Tactics shows off some of the strategy behind the game. The video is pretty brief, but it is very to-the-point. Could this be the revitalization the franchise needs?

There is no scheduled release date for MechWarrior Tactics yet, but you can sign up for updates on its website.

Last, but not least, comes The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. Here we get another developer diary that goes into detail about what was added to the original PC version of the game. CD Projekt RED talks in-depth about the new quests, characters, and locations that help make up the Enhanced Edition.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is out now for PC and Xbox 360.

  1. Too long, didn’t read…

    • Fascinating.

  2. You know, I know people who already own the original Witcher 2 will get the patch to make it into the Enhanced Edition for free, what if I buy the original version now? I see some non-enhanced editions of Witcher 2 for the PC for pretty cheap. I’m temted to buy it, then see if it’ll patch it to the EE for free like current owners do, or does it need to show that I’ve had it installed before?? I wonder…

    • Ken: You should be able to apply the upgrade without having to pay for anything, regardless of when you bought the game. Like jwalka says, CDProjekt Red is a pretty groovy company that way.

      • Awesome, I kind of get the feeling they would too… Thanks for your opinions on the matter Androol and jwalka.

  3. Oops, erase “You know” in the beginning, lol.

Oh, and about ARMA3, I wish there was some way they can work with EA and use BF3′s character animations, because those animations are freakin’ fantastic and actually very realistic. And blend that into the realistic world of ARMA3. Then that’ll be the ultimate realistic first-person shooter in my opinion…

    • that would be pretty cool. in regards to your witcher 2 comment, i assume the update is for everyone, they’re a very good studio and i doubt they’ll cut off some of their players for money (they aren’t like american dev studios/publishers who only think about cash).

      • @jwalka

Um, they are still a business, they are definitely only really thinking about the cash. The only difference is possibly a different philosophy about getting to that cash. A lot of businesses, yes, even in the evil money-hungry land of America, believe that the best way to get return business is to treat their customers right. I’ve seen companies that are willing to give up some profit now knowing that would make a customer happy which would bring him/her back later. Look at Amazon, I sent them an email ASKING them a question regarding the bitrate they record their mp3′s in. Not only did they answer my question, they put $4 in my account just so I can download some songs for free and listen to it myself…

And about a month ago, Dead Space (Digital Download) went on sale on Gamefly for like $2 or $3. So I was going to buy it, but for some reason the website wasn’t letting me purchase it with my credit card. So I emailed their customer support about it. Of course, by the time they replied, the sale was over and it was back to $20. Well, instead of telling me “the site wasn’t working right then, too bad, so sad.” They actually put a $20 credit in my account to purchase the game (or to use it for anything else if I liked, they actually said that), but I didn’t want to seem like I’m taking advantage, I used the credit to buy the game. So I didn’t get the game for $2, I got it for free. And as far as I know, Gamefly is an American company…

But of course, there are those other companies that think that by tricking their consumers now and making the quick profits now, that somehow they’ll get return business… I think it’s a bad philosophy, but apparently it sometimes works…

Most companies I’ve worked for (all American since I live in America, lol) typically go by the “customer’s always right” philosophy, and most of the time it works. Make them happy now, even at the company’s expense, but they earn more later when that customer comes back. So in the end, it’s all about the cash, even when they do something that appears nice to their consumers… Sorry for the rant, just making the point that it’s one and the same. :-)

  4. Is it just me or is the MechWarrior trailer on there twice, and the Starhawk trailer missing?

  5. Also, that Reset trailer is quite cool, and it seems to convey some themes that I pretty much always adore; I hope I’m reading that right. That shiny red car underneath the decrepit old robot is quite confusing, now that I think about it. At any rate, the trailer is boss. Seems like there are lots of great, artful trailers for games nowadays.
