Game Rant October Game Guide

As the holiday season looms closer, gamers everywhere prepare for the impending release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There’s a lot in store for current-generation systems before November hits, however, so let’s jump in and take a look!

Kicking off the first day of October 2013 is NHL 2K4 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, followed by Beyond: Two Souls on the 8th, also for the PS3. Up next is the anticipated Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS, taking the beloved franchise to the next evolution on October 12th. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes snaps into action on the 18th, with Batman: Arkham Origins hot on the trail on the 25th – both available for all major consoles. Closing out the month on the 29th are Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4, both available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Really? I only see one that I’m interested in out of all of those games…

I was at three, but then they announced that Arkham Origins only has 12 hours to the main story, so I’m considering canceling my preorder and waiting for a price drop.

I’m tired of paying $60 for less than two to three days of story.

Batman I’m going to wait for reviews and maybe even some feedback from friends who might buy it before I consider it. I have kind of low confidence with it since they changed developer, writer, and voice actors. When that happens, usually the game doesn’t come out that good. Look at when Bohemia Interactive made Operation Flashpoint, and then when Codemasters made Operation Flashpoint 2. Or when Redstorm Entertainment made all of those brilliant Rainbow Six games versus the garbage Ubisoft developed Rainbow Six games…

Rocksteady helped develop this one. I’m just looking for more gameplay for $60. I get that a game can be a lot of fun with only 12 hours of story if there is a lot of stuff outside of the main story, but looking at Arkham Origins, it looks like they’ve loaded a LOT of that gameplay into the challenges, and I barely touched the challenges in the Arkham City.

Since that’s the way this game seems to be leaning, the most gameplay I’m likely to get out of it is about 20-25 hours at most before I gotta start looking a New Game+. It’s not worth $60 for that.

In other news, playing the BF4 beta, and have everything turned to ultra and it runs super smooth. The return of VOIP with your squad is awesome. Great team work while playing with strangers. So far it’s seeming pretty fun, might preorder it to get the extras.

I have my eye on Lego Marvel but I’m going to wait to get the next-gen version, I think.

    Batman (pre-oredred for PC)

Battlefield 4 (most likely on PC, people say they will release a special edition which will include everything for a fair price so wiating for that, I may buy on impulse)

    Beyond: Two Souls (pre-ordered)

AC4: Will wait for PC version as it will have FPS issues and stuff on console versions.

Lego Marvel Heroes: Very interested, maybe a price drop.
