The Game Rant Guide: July 2013 Edition

Game Rant July Game Guide

Many developers made a splash at E3 last month, with several big announcements for the future of the gaming industry. With most of the buzz and controversy behind us, it’s time to take a look at the month ahead. July is a fairly slow time in the year, but should have enough releases to tide anxious gamers over until the end of summer. Let’s take a look!

July starts off with a punch as Mortal Kombat arrives on the 3rd for Windows PCs. The following week sees the July 9th release of Brave New World, the second expansion for Civilization V. Also releasing on the 9th is Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for PS3. Next up is Dynasty Warriors 8, hacking and slashing its way onto PS3 and Xbox 360 on the 16th. Ending the month is cyberpunk fantasy Shadowrun Returns, releasing on the 25th for Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android.

  1. Will Brave New World be based off the Dystopia from the book?

  2. sad month to be a gamer XD there is nothing that interests me in the slightest… already have all the mgs games…

    • Ditto. Then again, there are great games out already that I don’t own…and a few classics on my shelf yet to conquer. In fact, the only excuses for having no games to play after the last 2 years of releases are that you can’t afford any right now or you are one of those weird gamers who will only play one or two genres/franchises. Not only are the shelves full of interesting stuff, but the broad selection means that many are discounted in one store or another. Check the used games, check a few stores for sales, review the last few months of releases, check a magazine for ratings, ask a friend, peruse sites like Gamerant, and if you need any more suggestions feel free to click my name for a list of great modern games you may have missed. It’s an unprecedented time of riches for gamers, so don’t despair. Many of us also have the fallback of a few hundred more hours of Skyrim…
