Despite being a poorly kept secret, PlayStation 4 owners were happy to receive official word that they'd be able to play all three main Uncharted games on their newer console. The SKU that's bringing all of these games to the new system, aptly titled Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, will allow players to relive (or experience for the first time) the unique settings and action-packed vistas that inhabit Nathan Drake's in-game universe.

While this compilation will undoubtedly be a no-brainer purchase for longtime fans and casual consumers alike, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection won't feature every mode that the original games did – with the largest piece left on the cutting room floor being the multiplayer options in Uncharted 2 and 3. Suffice to say, this will come as a blow for those hoping to get in on the action with friends on PS4.

The removal of multiplayer from those games was first revealed by Naughty Dog's community manager Eric Monacelli. According to the employee, the reason behind leaving out the online mode was to prevent a division amongst fans. Furthermore, Monacelli clarified that there are "no plans to release [multiplayer] again," which rules out the possibility of the modes appearing as DLC down the road.

"No plans to release MP again. There’s access to the U4 beta so you’ll get your multiplayer fix."

"We don’t want to split up our awesome U2 and U3 MP communities that we have right now either. Everyone who buys collection will get U4 MP Beta access and it’ll be a fun way to get ready for U4!"

While that will be a disappointment to some hoping to kick the tires of Uncharted's online battleground on PlayStation 4, there's definitely an upside to the three-game package. In lieu of multiplayer in those games, access to the Uncharted 4: A Thief's End multiplayer beta is being dealt out out to those that pick up The Nathan Drake Collection. Admittedly, it'll still be some time before that portion of the bundle launches, but it's a fun incentive nonetheless.

As the days roll on leading up to E3 2015, there are sure to be an ample amount of announcements related to game – as well as its forthcoming followup. Keeping all of that in mind, stay tuned to Game Rant for any and all updates on the Uncharted series.
