Uncharted 4 New Screenshots

If there's one thing gamers can rely on when it comes the forthcoming release of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End it's that the game will be gorgeous. Naughty Dog has a longstanding history of leveraging every ounce of the PlayStation platform to deliver some of the most impressive console releases ever seen. And with Uncharted 4 having the new power of the PS4 at its fingertips, it's only appropriate that the game push that level of fidelity even further.

To that end, Game Informer has released a few new screenshots from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End to whet gamers' appetites. As we mentioned earlier in the week, Uncharted 4 is GI's cover story, and these new images are part of that.

Unfortunately, while the images are appropriately staggering in terms of color palette and detail, they don't reveal too much about the game itself. They do suggest that Drake will once again be gallivanting through diverse tropical landscapes and faced with death-defying leaps, but there's no story hints to be found. We know that the game will feature an island formed by pirates, so presumably one or all of these images are set on that locale. The dark image has a particularly ominous air to it, and looks perfect for a pirate habitat.

The screenshots do offer another look at Nathan's older brother Sam, who we know will be joining Drake on his adventure. In fact, it's Sam who draws Drake out of retirement for (presumably) one last adventure.

However, while Sam might have familial ties to Nathan that doesn't mean he won't cross his brother if the opportunity strikes. There's more to Sam than Naughty Dog is letting on – outside of Nathan thinking him dead for years – and we expect that A Thief's End will give us a new perspective on the Drake lineage.

Ultimately, a few pretty pictures is enough of an appetizer for the time being. Game Informer has more to say about the game in the coming month, including details about that story and the return of multiplayer, but for now it's a waiting game.

What do you think of these Uncharted 4 screenshots? What types of settings would you like to see the game visit?
